Vietnam 65 unbiased comment
If you guys set out top make a game as frustrating and un-fun as the axtual viet nam conflict, you succeeded. Theres really no enjoyment factor in this game...finding the enemy is near impossible although the fact that the opposing units invariably are defeated in combat, its not enough to make up for the lack of enjoyment. I should note, that although i find this "game" about as much fun as a trip to the dentist's im not going to give up on it yet.

Don't give up on it just now, there is a learning curve, once you get into the rhythm you will reconsider

Re: Vietnam 65 unbiased comment
glad to hear, use the tutorial to learn the basics, then play on regular which is the normal level of difficulty, once mastered move it to veteran for more of a challenge, glad your not giving up,hidden just under the surface is one hell of a gameim not going to give up on it yet.

Re: Vietnam 65 unbiased comment
idk, seems to me theres as much of a chance of winning this game as there was in winning the actual war....couple suggestions...1) have the helicopters head back to base immediately after dropping their cargo...2) have units FIGHT BACK ...i dont think either of these suggestions would hurt playability and will still maintain historic accuracy
Re: Vietnam 65 unbiased comment
i've won it at least 4 time on normal and 10+ time now on veteran and tbh gave up counting as i want a new star for my uniform mostly

video's and pictures never do some games justice, play it, for the price tbh there not much out there to match it, pay twice the amount and yes you may get more, but for shear fun and playability it's a lot like some classic on here at 2 or 3 times the price, but maybe it's not for everyone, but then again i don't think it was meant to be for all, like the subject, the units, the playability side and re playability element, the random maps do help with that, add in the good AI and for me again price wise for me i think it was sold too cheap and could have been a few quid more and still be good value, but i may no be un biased as i beta it and liked it from day one, so understand fully it's not panzer corps or panzer general for that matter, but does do what it was designed to do very well, it's just different in it's approach and layout

I think maybe we did not spend enough time positioning the nature of the game I.e. V65 was never intended to be a deep historical sim , what it is, is an end to end immersive Vietnam experience in under three hours.

Re: Vietnam 65 unbiased comment
and that's been done very well
Re: Vietnam 65 unbiased comment
can someone help me out?? i cant find any tips or strategic help online (i guess the game is just too new)...is there a way to anticipate where a vc/nva unit will appear, seems to me that the only way is to just keep the villages garrisoned and use the intel map, a lot.
Re: Vietnam 65 unbiased comment
no it's random, but you can help your self by patrols and visiting the villages more often to increase there's and your's hearts and mindsis there a way to anticipate where a vc/nva unit will appear

Re: Vietnam 65 unbiased comment
If you watch the Intel map carefully, with the VC contact tab on, you will see a pattern developing and then around turn 25 plus you should be able to triangulate the trail points from where the VC spawn
Re: Vietnam 65 unbiased comment
Using the intel; map is one of the basic ways. NVA advance from somewhere in the west, it is generally easy for me to locate them and pinpoint their route. Once you hav ethis, make an outer base and move an artillery unit and/or a tank there (depending on terrain).kayeldee wrote:can someone help me out?? i cant find any tips or strategic help online (i guess the game is just too new)...is there a way to anticipate where a vc/nva unit will appear, seems to me that the only way is to just keep the villages garrisoned and use the intel map, a lot.
Finding opfor is generaly harder than killing opfor. This gets particularly problematic if the random map is full of jungle hexes. If he map is particularly forested, buy at least 2 engineers from the political points you got from killing the NVA you located. Having said that, keep at least one Cobra active, to take out the foes that villages will point out, which might be in faraway jungle hexes that can't be reached by infantry in one turn.
At time you can get a particularly hard map with a simply overwhelming mass of jungle. I such case do NOT buy a 2nd engineer if you think there is too much jungle to clear in time with even 2 engineers. In such case, buy 2 cobras early and a chinook or two. If the terrain is too tough, then do not waste effort trying to fight a battle you cannot win. Instead go airmobile and just clear individual LZs.
VC are harder to get, seem to come from several directions at once. Moreover I seem to get the impression that once I move an artillery unit and some recon in an area, VC will start to actively avoid it.
Best bet is to place your firebase and smaller bases in good locations. Have at least 2 green berets in the field in zones that the intel map suggest are heavy in opfor activity. Visit villages regularly when you can get intel.
That's my tips from my games, although I'm still new to the game. Wasnot a beta player or anything.

If you want to cheat, there's an easy way.
If so, PM me, as don't want to spoil for others.
