Hello Skypoint,

I'll be sending a build to Slitherine tonight and they'll decide tomorrow morning whether to submit it to Apple right away or test it a little bit before submitting it. Watch this space, either Tamas, Iain or myself will let you know what's next. Once again, thank you for all your support.

Hello, running on an iPad Air 2 and not run into the black screens but have run into a few problems (one of which I believe is new and the others I haven't seen reports of)

1. (This one I believe is covered and fixed) assigning people in the SET is freaky. People that are already assigned show up as assignable. At least one person can never be assigned as they never show on the list ( an incorrect person shows instead).

2. The most recently purchased (biggest) rocket does not show on the "manage rocket programs" screen. When I buy the next bigger one the last one then appears.

3. If I go to a satellite mission and it says "you need a bigger rocket do you want to buy one" and I do from there without going back to the "open rocket program" button the rocket that I get (and its payload satellite) do not appear on the start of turn graphic showing the reliability improvement increase and its %ages do not go up even if it is full of scientists. It probably doesn't show up as in point 2 above as well so maybe this is a related problem ?

Apart from all that the game has a lot of potential ... can't wait to get the patches.

Cheers ... Dave

Hello Spuddicus,

Welcome to the forums! Yes, unfortunately this bug in Unity affected many areas in the code, and that's why you got all this funny behaviour. It should all be sorted now. After applying the patch, the iOS version should behave the same as the desktop version does.

We'll keep you guys posted. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Hi guys,

here is the more detailed description for those interested.

Over the weekend the team acquired an iPad Air and investigated the issue and we know what has gone wrong. The problem was actually caused by a bug in Unity itself. Apparently they're trying to remove their dependency with Mono, so they are writing their own compiler named IL2CPP. They have been working on this compiler for a while now and were expecting to release it as part of Unity 5, but they had to swiftly shoehorn it into Unity 4 when Apple decided that all applications submitted after February 1st had to be 64-bit.

Anyway, looking through their patch releases (http://unity3d.com/unity/qa/patch-releases), we found out that a bug related to the FindAll function from the List class (which we use all over the place!) had been fixed 10 days ago in patch 4.6.3p2. This was just after we submitted the final build to Apple. We have downloaded the latest version and applied it to the game and we no longer see any issues on iPad Air. We're going to submit it today and ask for it to be expedited. Once again apologies for the problems and we'll let you know when we have some news.

Looking forward to getting the update. So would this bug in Unity only affect later iPad models of the mini and air and not the older models tested? Do those older models not use the part of the code or this version?

Hello kzonking,

Welcome to the forums. The update has already been sent to Apple. Fingers crossed, it won't take long for it to become available, though the length of the review process is up to them, really.

The updated version works just like the desktop version does, so I'd suggest you to wait until the update is out.

Hello claytskuk,

To be honest I don't know why the bug didn't affect regular iPad models. We performed a closed beta earlier this year and we got some reports of black screens in the initial builds, though I attributed them to the fact that I was building the game with all the optimizations enabled. The problem went away afterwards (i.e., we didn't get any reports on black screens), so I assumed the enabled optimizations was the problem and forgot about it.

The beta went quite well. Here's what one of the beta testers said right after we submitted the final version to Apple:
Welcome. I wish I had had more to say but except for the screen blackout issue three builds back I had almost no problems with stability or bugs. And I played this game til the wheels fell off. At least ones that hadn't already been addressed.
This, coupled with the fact that I didn't experience issues on my iPad 3 either, gave me the confidence that we were going to have a very smooth launch.

I'm deeply sorry for all the inconveniences. We'll certainly test future games in a wider range of devices before launching.

Okay so a page that I found (but the forum won't let me post a link to  ) says that expedited reviews (which you mentioned earlier) take between 12 hours and 3 days and it was delivered to Apple on the 16th so we should expect to see it any time it anytime from today till Thursday ... unless they reject it for any reason of course

Fingers crossed....

Expedited reviews are entirely at Apple's discretion and so it may be quick or they may deny the request and put it through the normal review process (or something else entirely!). It's in their hands unfortunately.

Cheers

Hi guys

the update was kindly expedited by Apple and is now available. This should fix the all issues people had but please let us know if not.

Please review the game again if you get the chance as we had a nasty start with the Unity bug :(

Thanks again for your patience.

Hi guys,

We have updated the iPad version to 1.4.16 (valid only for IOS). All of the major bugs reported are now fixed! So if you have an iPad Air or an iPad Mini, it's time to go to space!
We apologize for the inconvenience this situation may have caused. Have fun!

Space Program Manager's iTunes page

Here's the list:

* Fixed a bug that caused a variety of serious issues on iPad Air and iPad mini, related to a bug which is now fixed in Unity.
* Added functionality in order to store a maximum of five autosave files.
* Fixed a bug where the game would lock during a mission if a failure occurs and the player has negative funds.
* Fixed bugs in the final stats screen
* Fixed textures from the 7K-LOK lunar landing mission.
* Fixed a bug where the game wouldn’t allow the player to assign SET personnel to a mission component if its current reliability value was above the default max reliability value.

Why would you want to assign people to an item that can't improve ? I must be missing something.

Hello Spuddicus,

Let me give you an example. Let's say the max RD reliability and the max reliability for a given component are 85% and 90%, respectively. You launch your mission with your component at 85%, the mission succeeds and the component gets bumped to 88%. Then you launch a second mission with the same component and it fails, lowering it to 80%. You assign SET personnel and, eventually, get to 86% (you are allowed to do that, since you reached an 88% reliability at some point). You then unassign all the SET employees but, when you try to assign them again, you get a popup saying that the component can no longer be improved. That was the bug, you should still be able to assign people because, for this situation, you could still get to 88% reliability by performing RD only.

Hope this makes sense.
