Caracole III - Results Thread
Recording Results
Please use this thread to detail results and provide battle reports to whatever extent you desire. Below you will find how scoring is to be calculated and the way to report the results.
Scoring
Scoring will be based upon the break level and by how close the battle was. The narrower the margin between players will result in scores rather close while an early decisive win will be wider.
Win: 6.0 + (enemy break% - winner break %)/10
Draw or Loss: (enemy break %)/10
Example:
pantherboy (German Catholic 1632-1638) (61%) vs flatsix518 (Swedish 1630-1634) (48%)
pantherboy (48%)/10 = 4.8pts
flatsix518 6.0 + (61% - 48%)/10 = 7.3pts
NB: Any battle that ends due to all the turns elapsing and with a player ahead in break % will not be considered a win and as such will only score the opponents break level divided by 10.
Reporting Results
Reporting results will be incumbent on the player who won the battle. They will be required to log into the Slitherine Forum and post the result publically on the appropriate thread (e.g. Caracole III Results). Results posted should be reported in the following format;
Group (A/B/C etc.)
Player ID (army) (Army Break %) score vs Player ID (army) (Army Break %) score
Example:
Group A
pantherboy (German Catholic 1632-1638) (61%) 4.8pts vs flatsix518 (Swedish 1630-1634) (48%) 7.3pts

Cavehobbit was willing to risk an experimental deployment, which turned bad. Good game and sport.

Group A
Awesum4 (Spanish-Imperialist 1543-1559) 9% 9.4points won against Doyley50 (French 1550-1559) 43% 0.9points.
A rather quick game on a very open battlefield, it came down to push of pike, and mine had luck with them this time. Our other battle started earlier and still continues, and is much closer, though his pike are starting to rout at last.

Group A
Awesum4 (French 1550-1559) 47% 8.3points won against Doyley50 (Spanish-Imperial 1543-1559) 70% 4.7 points.
An interesting battle which swung back and forth. I had a lovely hill to stand on, he advanced to the bottom and proceeded to shoot in a most unsporting manner (tercios against my keils) so I charged downhill. One of my Landsknecht keils disrupted on impact, then fragged then broke, as my Italians on the other end did the same. But after a very lengthy slog my Swiss and other landsknechts routed all his big blocks. A turn before his Gendarmes and Reiter charged into the rear of my pike. There were few supports left on either side.
Thanks for two very enjoyable games Doyley,
Andre

batesmotel (French) 0% - 11.1 beat majendro (Spanish) 51% - 0 points
The Spanish Tercios pretty much didn't get a chance to do much and French fire power did most of the damage.
Thanks for the game.

rbodleyscott (Parliamentarian 1642-1643) (10%) 9.3 pts vs youngr (Royalist 1642-1643) (43%) 1.0 pt
An interesting game. The Royalists sent cavaliers round both of the Parliamentarian flanks. The Parliamentarian armies sent some infantry to fend them off but failed to stop them getting into the Parliamentarian rear.
However, the Royalist foot, showing unusually timidity, were still two musket shots away, so the Parliamentarians about faced their main battle line and advanced to the rear, crushing the the enemy horse.
The Parliamentarian foot then about faced again and formed a firing line to face the advancing Royalist foot.
Superior firepower prevailed. (As it did in our other game, but in a less complex fashion).
Thanks for a very interesting, if historically unlikely, game.

rbodleyscott (Swedish) (45%) 7.8 won vs Hutze (German Catholic) (63%) 4.5
This should really have been a Catholic victory, but two of the routed Swedish pike and shot units rallied to Fragmented.
Thanks Johannes for a tense game.

The Swedish salvo foot in this one made quicker work of the German foot than the German cavalry on the German right did of the Swedish left. The Swedish cavalry on the German left actually won the battle there with the elite Hakkapeliitta being the real heroes. Thanks for the game.

batesmotel (Spanish) 45% - 7.8 beat majendro (French) 63% - 4.5 points
The Spanish Tercios and Keils messily mixed it up with the french Keils and came out better when one of the borken Tercios rallied to fragged. The Spanish light horse managed to chase down a number of the French LF and Lh while the lone unit of Spanish Gendarmes succumbed quickly to superior numbers of French mounted. The game would have been even closer but Majandro had problems on one of the last turns with his move due to problems uploading.
Thanks for the game.
