What music do you listen while playing?
Custom soundtrack surely adds further atmosphere to gameplay. For me Triarii - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_tppyBoT3Q works awesome, neoclassical martial industrial suits pretty well. Also I tried several soundtracks of WW2 movies. Any further recommendations?
Re: What music do you listen while playing?
So you are running youtube whilst playing the game?
That doesn't lead to some lag or delay?

Pandora...usually rock or classic rock.
Nothing like Guns n Roses blasting while blowing away some conscripts.

Cricket commentary.
However, when the commentary is coming through the PC, the volume often has to be at max, so the explosions and other effects are approximately at real life levels. A bit alarming when there's a battleship firing at your troops!

I just listen to my usual music collection which mostly is heavy metal but by far not only. What exactly simply depends on the mood of the day or the mercy of random shuffle.
@captainjack: At least under Windows 7 and later (not sure if it's possible with XP and Vista) you can use the mixer to individually set the volume for different applications so you don't have to be deafen by the game sounds while listening to other stuff. Click on the speaker symbol in the task bar and select the "mixer" link at the bottom then a window opens where you can set each running applications volume. Windows remembers the settings for later.

You can't do it on XPTarrak wrote:@captainjack: At least under Windows 7 and later (not sure if it's possible with XP and Vista) you can use the mixer to individually set the volume for different applications so you don't have to be deafen by the game sounds while listening to other stuff. Not sure about Vista either though.

Also, usually just leave the normal stuff on. Otherwise I put on the HoI 3 soundtrack.

Re: What music do you listen while playing?
Thanks for the suggestions.
I haven't yet found a way to get Windows 8 to play two things at once at different volume. At present I don't know if this is because it won't do it at all of if there is an operator problem - still trying to find instructions that apply to Windows 8 (there's plenty for 7 and Vista).

I will have tomorrow at work a look at the Windows 8 PCs and see how the volume settings work there. I don't have Windows 8 at home because i simply refuse to use it.captainjack wrote:Thanks for the suggestions.

Re: What music do you listen while playing?
I checked the Volume Control on Windows 8.1 computer and it works exactly the same way as under Windows 7. Left click on the speaker icon in the right side of the taskbar (picture 1). If you don't see the speaker symbol directly on the taskbar click on the little triangle/arrow up symbol to open the hidden symbols and click on it (picture 2). A window with a general volume control and a Mixer link in the bottom should open now (picture 3). Click on the Mixer and then another window should open where you can change the volume for all the different currently running applications (picture 4). The screenshots are taken under Windows 7 so under Windows 8 it may look a tiny bit differently but the general layout of the UI is the same.

Thanks Tarrak. I'll have a look at this when the current cricket match is over.

I am a real stick in the mud so i listen to various political and theological podcasts.
I know, not very exciting, but I find it educational while i am dominating the world.

I've been listening to Wagner as i feel his music personifies this era (especially from the German perspective). Its good background music and some of them are quite rousing songs, even if you aren’t into classical music.

Re: What music do you listen while playing?
When playing the Soviets, nothing beats 'The Sacred War'.
Re: What music do you listen while playing?
I just disabled the music at day one, because I need my concentration for my tactical/strategic decisions.
Only the sound stayed on (but quietly).

I find I really enjoy "Hearts of Iron" by Sabaton while playing Grand Campaign 45 East.
