IOS Version 2.16
IOS Version 2.16
Dev Team - can you advise on where the Save option button went to on the 2.16 build?
I no longer see it in the menu.

Re: IOS Version 2.16
Hi DonCzirr,
The overwhelming feedback we received from iDevice users (especially iPhone/iPod users) when we released last month was that they wanted us to return to a version of the UI that was closer to the previous style. The latest version implemented that update, but also sadly meant that we had to temporarily leave out some of the new features we added as they just didn't work with the old UI style.
As such, the save system is now running like it did previously, with a single auto-save slot that saves at the beginning of each new turn.
We are looking into how we can re-introduce the full PC-style save system in our next update (1.16 PC/Mac, 2.17 for iOS) whilst still retaining the latest UI style.
I'm sorry for the temporary change.
Thanks,

Ok thanks, I'll be back to play when you make the update.

Re: IOS Version 2.16
On single player I can pick Menu then Save and get a choice of 4 save slots.
Re: IOS Version 2.16
Seems odd - considering what Shards stated above.
Are you running 2.16?
And if so, on what device?

Re: IOS Version 2.16
2.16 from App Store. iOS 9 on a 6s plus.
On main screen under Battle lower left corner says Build Version 1.15.

Re: IOS Version 2.16
Ok - I'm on 1.15 build as well / App Store 2.16 version.
There is no button for saves on my iPOD 5.
Not a big deal - I'll keep my iPAD 4 at the previous version so I can do the PC style saves and then upgrade to 2.17 on both when released.
Thanks for your input.

Re: IOS Version 2.16
Thanks for the input Eldnas. The key difference is that an iPhone 6S Plus has a native res of 1080p, where the iPod Touch 5th Gen only has 1136×640.

Re: IOS Version 2.16
Got it. Seems ok.DonCzirr wrote:Ok - I'm on 1.15 build as well / App Store 2.16 version.
What is the issue with Build Version 1.15 versus IOS Version 2.16? If it's v2.16 then the main menu screen should show 2.16 and not 1.15. This is unnecessarily confusing and should be a simple matter to fix.
Re: IOS Version 2.16
When we released the remake, build version number of the release was 1.0 on PC.
But when we tried uploading it to AppStore, the appstore version number was 2.0 already, and you cannot regress the version number at apple. So just the appstore number is dephased with 1.

Ok Shards - so just to be clear - if I were to update the game on my iPAD 4 to 2.16, the PC style save /load interface would be available?

Re: IOS Version 2.16
Yes. It's only a matter of resolution.
We couldn't fit the save game panels in a easy way for lower resolutions. So, for now, the save slots menu is only available to higher resolution devices (like the Ipad 4

Re: IOS Version 2.16
Ok thanks.
Looking at the in-game Menu options, it appears that there are a few slots available on the second row - only "Main Menu" and "Resign" are there currently.
Since there are 5 buttons on the top row - there should be enough room for Save and Load buttons in the lower.
So - I'm guessing you're talking about the pre-game menu not having enough real estate with the new UI?

Re: IOS Version 2.16
You are missing the point. I understand the different version numbers for PC versus iOS. But the compiled executable for the iOS version should have its correct build version number on the main menu screen. You can have a different main menu screen image for your different compiled versions, yes? Unless you are compiling both PC and iOS executables from the same build, so maybe I just don't understand that. So compile different builds, something, but the version number displayed in the game should match the download version number. I don't understand why this would be an issue, it's trivial.mboog12 wrote:When we released the remake, build version number of the release was 1.0 on PC.

Re: IOS Version 2.16
One other request from the "Low-Res" IOS crowd for 2.17 for iOS :
IPAD version has nice combat ratio graphic when you move in for a battle where as the Low Res models have a grey (explosion?) marker.
Can you get the combat numbers into that pop-up for Lower Res?
Does not have to be anything fancy .... but's it's very convenient to pop around and check ratios with the IPAD style.

Re: IOS Version 2.16
No, it is not trivial. If you update an executable with a version number inside it that is not in sync with the Itunes store it will get rejected right away.pzgndr wrote:You are missing the point. That version number that you see in the main menu reads the internal version number on each platform.
It would be trivial if we would "hack" it and enter the number by hand, but really, is that such a big issue that we might want to have someone manually entering the number everytime?
Re: IOS Version 2.16
"On each platform." So, why can't the internal version number for the iOS platform executable be made consistent with the iTunes version number? The programmer should be able to just set it in the code to whatever it needs to be. This is basic configuration management.mboog12 wrote:That version number that you see in the main menu reads the internal version number on each platform.
So OK, this is way too hard to do for some reason. Got it.

Re: IOS Version 2.16
From my point of view continuing this topic is counter-productive. The internal version number is NOT different for each platform, they all share the same build number.
Changing the build that requires making an update to Steam PC, Steam Mac, Slitherine's website, etc. Meaning that for steam we will make an update taking the game from version 1.15 to version 2.16... Steam players will ask why the big increase, did we introduce a new dlc?
So please take into consideration all aspects of the situation before making rude comments. Thank you!

Re: IOS Version 2.16
I think the point is that you're going to make an update anyway, the next time you release a version to fix more bugs and/or improve the experience, which of course one hopes will be soon. Saying that it's hard to have a common version number (!) doesn't inspire confidence. And, frankly, saying that you'd prefer to confuse iOS players with a different version number, than to possibly confuse PC players by standardizing version numbers across all platforms, reinforces the impression that you really don't care about the former.
Re: IOS Version 2.16
For the record, I'm not confused by the different build version number, just annoyed. I get it that it's the same build number. But to see iOS release one version number and then see a different build version number simply begs the question whether the download was correct or not.
So perhaps a not-so-rude modest request. Perhaps the iOS release notes for whatever iTunes store "version number" is used could simply identify the different "build version number" up front, so players can see what they're about to install and then verify they have the correct install? As it is, unless players come here and see these forum discussions, there is nothing in the release notes that iOS version 2.16 install is actually build version 1.15 as displayed on the menu screen. You do have some control over the release notes, yes, or is that non-trivial too? Please, just make it clear. That's all I'm getting at.
