Post 103c Patch news?
When is the next patch? I am getting bored with Stellaris.
Re: Post 103c Patch news?
I must admit that some news would be welcome but at least we know that the next patch is currently worked on ^^
Re: Post 103c Patch news?
I usually refrain from making x vs y comparisons, but I agree - Stellaris is overrated and does quite a few things worse than Polaris Sector. It's also much less interesting to play.
Too bad people are so fickle and make knee-jerk decisions on which product to purchase by branding alone, it's just not fair. I hope Slitherine were able to get enough to keep Polaris Sector alive, but the silence of updates and the forum is deafening

Re: Post 103c Patch news?
PS does so many things right that Stellaris does wrong that I see a tremendous opportunity for Slitherine to step up and grab market share. But, they need some PR and some patch-DLC action. Come on guys, this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity - a potential winner of a game at just the right time. The leader has fallen on its face. Step up and seize the crown. Give us some NEWS.

+1
It's ironic that several of the things Stellaris players are complaining about the most are actually part of the PS system. But PS's potential is still just that-- potential. It's a good playable game as it is, but it could be a GREAT game-- so please Slitherine don't let this game die on the vine. I sense a lot of people have already shelved it until at least next patch, and a lot of folks just aren't going to bother with it if the wait drags on and on. Not to mention a lot of folks on the fence about buying it will just fade away. Say what you want about Paradox/Stellaris, but their fans are convinced they will get tons of hotfixes/patches...

I like your words about "ironic". Yes, for months I read people arguing about the great features from Stellaris and now......I see more people arguing about the things which it has not Stellaris and clearly you can find at PS. By example the tactical combat. At Stellaris, it is nule, it remembers me more to the simulation from Galactic Civilizations III than other thing.
About Paradox game patches and fixes.......as usual at many games but they can not change what is the game and how it runs.

'Tactical combat' is incredibly overrated and a misnomer. What's tactical about a space game where combat is completely 2D?

Tactical Combat may be simplistic, but at least there *are* tactics. Lot's of complaints about the Stellaris method-- not about it being abstract, but that that several mechanics (e.g., "combat computers") may not be working as intended. Anyway, not trying to bash Stellaris, just pointing out that with an update or two PS could give it a serious run for its money gameplay-wise.
Re: Post 103c Patch news?
I would not say Stellaris has fallen on its face. And GreenManGaming is still selling it for $30, which is a very fair price. I have modded Polaris and played it two weeks straight. You really do need to keep track of your ships, tankers, transports, so fighting a 2-3 war front can involve some micro, but it is worth it. GalCiv3 so far does not pull me in.
Polaris is a (one man?) design team and can never keep up with the endless dlc and patches that Stellaris will offer. Also, not one crash or huge issue on release, which is something for Paradox. It's just hard to roll out those patches for Polaris. Remember how long we would often wait for Distant World stuff

One comparation point. Stellaris uses 3D tactical combat but you can not make any flank tactic or any other thing from a 3D combat. At PS, you can use tactics.HerpInYourDerp wrote:'Tactical combat' is incredibly overrated and a misnomer. What's tactical about a space game where combat is completely 2D?
Randomattack is more clear, there are tactics at PS.
We will see them when they make them. There are a lot of examples about big teams making bad DLC around the net. PS by example will have mods and we do not speak from mods which they edit the things seen in the original game, we speak from mods with new features. Why? because his unique team member needs less for to live and he hears to the people. At my SW mod which I hope all you use as a example, point of origin for other mods, there are many new features added in code, just for create a mod from the original game which probably it can be named a free expansion.and can never keep up with the endless dlc and patches that Stellaris will offer.

Re: Post 103c Patch news?
Stellaris doesn't have tactical combat, not in the typical microing sense PS has anyway, nor is it 3D either. That should have been obvious from any gameplay video. There are also glaring holes in the 'tactics' available in PS to use, such as fleet formations, reinforcement support, multiple fleet engagements, multi-system combat, localised/compartmentalised damage, I could keep going on here.
Aside from some of the aesthetics and the early- to mid-game, it's still closer to a grand strategy game than a standard 4x. Some of the UI also needs some work or additions.
Definitely needs to fix a lot of gameplay bugs & balancing though; a lot of these issues should have been be picked up from playthroughs, especially faulty event chains, but clearly weren't. It's also clear there are a lot of things which having been deliberately omitted, such as espionage, so they could be made into DLC down the line.
Your assumption PDS won't be listening to players or have mods is also rather disingenuous. Either way, it's clear where on the fence people here will lie.

Sorry I do not understand this part. Can you explain me it different?HerpInYourDerp wrote: Your assumption PDS won't be listening to players or have mods is also rather disingenuous. Either way, it's clear where on the fence people here will lie.

Any insights you can share as to when we can expect it & what it addresses?
