A new story begins... Panzer Corps 2 has been announced!
When we released Panzer Corps six years ago, our goal was to revive a genre by going back to its roots. We worked with Flashback Games and The Lordz Games Studio and with the help of a vibrant community to create a new classic that would start a new era in wargaming. We had goals, hopes and objectives, but we couldn’t possibly imagine the impact this game would have had in the wargaming and strategy gaming communities.
The release of Panzer Corps marked the return of a long-neglected gaming formula, which we knew still had a large and loyal following. Its spectacular success brought an almost forgotten genre back into fashion, it inspired multiple clones and literally gave new life to an entire market.
After over five years of expansions, mods, challenges and tournaments, a brand-new instalment of the franchise is ready to take the strategy gaming segment by storm again. This time, with even bigger ambitions.
Panzer Corps 2 is currently in development using Unreal Engine 4, to allow an impressive leap forward in both technological capabilities and visual impact. Hundreds of World War 2 units will be shown with a level of quality and detail never seen before in awargame.
The move to a fully 3D engine is a natural evolution of the game, but the core gameplay will always remain true to its roots: pay tribute to the classic gameplay of a distant golden age of strategy gaming, refine it, perfect it and use the most recent technologies to enhance these experiences and bring them to a new generation of gamers. In other words, strike the perfect balance between tradition and innovation, both in visuals and gameplay.
We will disclose more details about the game as we move through the development process, so make sure you follow us on the forum and on the Flashback Games site.

So super Excited about this.
I saw this on the forum as soon as I woke up this morning and pee-pee'd in my pants a little bit.
My hopes are high for this one, not sure how they can improve on next to perfection but looking forward to see what they come up with, and if I can help in anyway.

Agreed.Rudankort wrote:Well PG2 was not a failure.Zampolit wrote:PanzerGeneral II and III were all about visual impact
PG2 was not a failure, and I even enjoyed PG3.
I love any game that is easy to learn hard to master and one especially where you can tweak the difficulty to make it even more difficult.
So please keep creating bonus levels like Manstein, Rommel, and Guderian. These are very fun and I am thoroughly enjoying even after over 2000 hours of gameplay

I can not wait! When will the beta?

Re: A new story begins... Panzer Corps 2 has been announced!
As I recall, PG2 was the most successful release in the franchise. Though I wonder if Panzer Corps was actually better, hard to tell, getting that kind of information on Panzer General 2 is tough.Rudankort wrote:Well PG2 was not a failure.
Re: A new story begins... Panzer Corps 2 has been announced!
Well Panzer Corps 2 be PC only or will it be released for Mac also?
Re: A new story begins... Panzer Corps 2 has been announced!
When I hear "3D" I start to shiver....
Many strategy games that moved to 3D ended with worse visuals and less user friendliness...... (and 3D also often means more computer resources needed and thus a slowing down of the game)
It would be good of Slitherine to share with us some visuals so that we understand what they have in mind and so that we can share our impressions with them....
the KISS principle is good..... keep that in mind

Re: A new story begins... Panzer Corps 2 has been announced!
That's my point - many developers choose the "ornamentations" instead of improving gameplay and usability. That's OK for grafic games, but wargame... Sure it nice to have authentic unit pictures not tactical signs but does animation improve anything? Did many of you levt animations turned on in PG1?tmoj2000 wrote:When I hear "3D" I start to shiver....
Re: A new story begins... Panzer Corps 2 has been announced!
3D makes certain animation tasks easier (e. g. making units actually face each other when fighting), but we never said we were going to implement animations like in PG. I consider the pace of the game very important, and we'll make sure the animations, no matter how cool they are, do not slow down anything. Panzer Corps 1 is a good reference point here, it does have combat animations, but I don't remember anyone complaining about them and asking for an option to turn them off.

Instead two units puffing at each other most history lovers prefer definitely nice real black and white photographs of units instead of 3D render. Me too btw.

Can you give an example of a game using bw photos instaed of CG? This would make your point more clear.Musketeer wrote:Instead two units puffing at each other most history lovers prefer definitely nice real black and white photographs of units instead of 3D render. Me too btw.
