I think there should be a friendly agreement between players, there are some armies that are at a very clear advantage/disadvantage against some other armies, and some late armies require more room to manouver, so that the agreement could include army size, map size and terrain type.

I would prefer medium as the mod we are using has many armies stuffed with cheap units and the unit count gets ridiculous. I have no interest in fighting say the Irish with 64 kerns spread from map edge to edge![]()

Re: War for Europe and the Near East Campaign
I think medium, default size is a good base to start but I have no problem with players agreeing otherwise, as the campaign is a designed as a fun way to facilitate more p&s games between like-minded players [many of whom have a well established rapport with each other]Aryaman wrote: ↑Wed Oct 03, 2018 6:11 pm Please sign me in

Terrain type is more the sticking point... but I think the compromise will work as... pot luck the default, unless otherwise agreed... Welcome aboard

For what it is worth, I agree with medium sized armies and pot luck terrain. Even if you don't receive your terrain preference, you are still able to choose your army composition after seeing a detained map of the battlefield.

I too am good with any agreement for non default army sizes and or selections.
Re: War for Europe and the Near East Campaign
All good. I would start the campaign earlier but I am aware that a number of players are in tournaments that are all well underway. So, I want to give these the first option at games in October. I'll pm a reminder to all players on the 1st of November for the campaign startTheGrayMouser wrote: ↑Thu Oct 04, 2018 1:52 pm I too am good with any agreement for non default army sizes and or selections.

Re: War for Europe and the Near East Campaign
What about a pool of Mercenary Generals to play the unowned territories when required ? Will save giving away 'freebees' and make it a little tougher to gain territory.
I would be a starter as a Mercenary General and I'm sure several P&S players who are not interested in becoming the Reborn HRE, would make themselves available when required for a battle.

Re: War for Europe and the Near East Campaign
I doubt they will be 'freebees' as other players will undoubtedly challenge for them rather than allowing them to gain them unchallenged. But I'm willing to open this option to the players for a decision.KiwiWarlord wrote: ↑Sun Oct 07, 2018 8:45 am What about a pool of Mercenary Generals to play the unowned territories when required ? I don't have a problem with interested players pm'ing me a 'wildcard' choice of an unowned territory as a 'surprise' opposition! Comments anyone?

Are moves done in the open, ie posted on the forum, or sent to you in secret and then revealed?

Re: War for Europe and the Near East Campaign
There are some potential chronological mismatches in the Additional Nations army list folio. When I choose Spanish 1494 - 1502 to attack France, I have to turn the Filter Army List off, and then the first match is French 1670 - 1690
. The French army lists available only start at 1670 and go up to 1698, so there is only one Spanish army list that is contemporary: Spanish 1649 - 1688. I suppose that it is not a big deal, but it is not what I expected.

It may be best to send me a pm as soon as you can. I'll post them together as one post [otherwise everyone will be waiting until the last day of the month, or until everyone else has lodged a move] I'll check out the issue you identified William and get back to you.

Re: War for Europe and the Near East Campaign
The Additional Nations army list folio provides a lot of missing army lists, but it is not a comprehensive list of army lists for common nations. If I was to specify Spanish 1494 - 1502 Age of Machiavelli, then France would rightly choose French 1494 - 1525 as the opposing army list. Let the attacker choose both their army list and the army list folio. Obviously the enemy must be present in the army list folio or Additional Nations must be used.GDod wrote: ↑Sun Oct 07, 2018 11:28 pmIt may be best to send me a pm as soon as you can. Are you in the "Extra Nations V3" lists? When I choose Spanish 1494 - 1502 to attack France, I have to turn the Filter Army List off, and then the first match is French 1670 - 1690. When I choose
open battle, pro-imperial, filter off...
and cycle to Spanish 1494-1502 I can cycle through the anti imperial list until I arrive at France 1494-1525.
Admittedly, the first French army in the anti-imperial choice is French 1670-1690 but if you continue to cycle through... you arrive as I have.
Does this help William? Would it help if I took a screenshot?

OK, you are right. I looked at the single payer choices, but IF I click long enough then I find the earlier French army list.

I'm happy with Spanish. As I said, it is not a big deal; just that if I choose an early list then the corresponding French list is not in chronological order.

Re: War for Europe and the Near East Campaign
All good William. Just the idea of mercenary generals put forward by KiwiWarlord. I don't want to complicate the system but then again it could be a good wildcard addition.
Note Rule clarifications on posting challenges
1. Challenges for owned territories need to be posted and negotiated direct on the thread, whereas challenges for unowned territories to be PM'ed to me. [These to be posted enmass at end of 1st week . Deadline = Saturday midday in NZ, which is approximately 11 pm Friday GMT for British and EU players...]
2. Army lists using Extra Nations Version 3 to be used.

If no Mercenary Generals I'll go Poles.
