The result came suddenly after a long battle of attrition, with the threat of cavalry robbing one side of any reserve. Andy played soundly, but the slight slope was not enough to counter the eventual advantage of numbers which Septimius Severus's men brought with them. I'm slightly dreading the return match.

The battle is a controlled rout for the Caledonians where tactical defeat is inevitable, so it’s a race for points. With this in mind, the clansmen ignored their immobile nobles and went for every point they could muster. The poor warriors actual performed pretty well, so the points accumulated. The Romans were coming back strongly, but the Roman medium foot broke just in time. The Caledonians had no less than 16 disrupted or fragged units, so they would have vaporised the next turn. Thanks for the game fogman.
