Forum Terebronii result with Londo,
I pulled a great imitation of brave Sir Robin, ran away with all the Romans I could. Still ugly for my Romans!
Finished out the 12 turns for a draw, minor defeat for the Romans.
78/85 Romans, 53/95 for my Goths.
Londo 9.2
Enakan 5.6

by running, you give up the possibility of winning. conduct unbecoming of a roman emperor! the senate has just begun proceedings of damnatio memoriae!Enakan wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 2:45 pm Forum Terebronii result with Londo,

Nisibis
Londo (Parthians) 11/68 - IMC (Romans) 104/100
Londo 10.4
IMC 1.6
A result from last month I didn't get round to posting. The Roman cavalry attacked bravely on both flanks, but were engulfed by waves of cataphracts. The Parthians then swung in behind the Roman infantry line.
I recall that in my reverse game (Martyn's posted the scores) I pulled back the Roman cavalry, and moved as much infantry as I could to the flanks. The infantry took a pounding, but wore out the Parthians, and I was just getting ready for a magnificent counter-attack when the game ended! I had forgotten the game length, curses!
Why does this scenario have an unusually short length?

Re: LORDS OF HISTORY (the ultimate edition)
historically, neither army could realistically break the other so a draw would be the most likely outcome. In the heat of the summer in a semi arid area, horses would be blown and men in armour would tire too quickly. A likely draw can be induced by reducing the length of combat.Londo wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2019 6:10 pm Nisibis

Londo (Parthians) 52/67 - Edmund (Sasanians) 58/58
Londo 10
Edmund 7.8
This was like two completely separate battles! In the main section where Ardavan faced off against Ardashir, the Parthians lost most of the combats, and began to crumble after their Shah fell. In the other section, the Parthians swept all before them!
So history takes a new path - but will a Parthian-run Persia be any better able to stand up to the Arab Conquest in a few centuries time than the Sasanians were?

Re: LORDS OF HISTORY (the ultimate edition)
Round 14: Restoring the World
The disaster of Edessa fractured the Roman world as the provincials no longer trusted the central authority to protect them. In the West, a ‘Gallic Empire’ emerged while in the East, the strongman of Palmyra, Odenathus, took over the military fight against the Sasanians. Valerian’s son Galerius, holding Italy, the Balkans and Africa was too busy on the Danube to intervene and reassert control but his heroic efforts kept the hope of the unified Empire alive. It was his immediate successors, Claudius and Aurelian, who would restore the unity and primacy of Rome in a series of successful campaigns in the late 260’s and early 270’s.
---------------------------------
LAKE BENACUS 268 AD
Newly proclaimed emperor following the murder of Galerius, Claudius and his cavalry commander Aurelian rushed to intercept the Alemanni who had broken through the Alpine passes. He found and attacked them on the shores of lake Benacus.
-----------------------------------
EMESA 272 AD
After successfully defending Italy and clearing the Balkans, Aurelian marched east to deal with the Palmyrenes, now under queen Zenobia. Following a lull after the recapture of Antioch, Aurelian advanced on the enemy at Emesa for the decisive confrontation. The Palmyrenes had superior cavalry but after pushing off the Roman cavalry, it got separated from the rest of the army and counter attacked by Roman infantry.

Re: LORDS OF HISTORY (the ultimate edition)
Yes. They used to be able to, which is strange. Maybe you have insights for them.
Re: LORDS OF HISTORY (the ultimate edition)
400 years is a long time to project. but what doomed both the Byzantines and the Sasanians vs the Arabs was the devastating war they fought against each other just before the rise of Islam. It was a fortuitous timing for the Arabs.

FM
Have tried to help as much as possible. Tech support will not even "support"/help as well. Still nothing. I think Paul V uses an Apple, not sure about Ian. I am wondering if there may be an important file missing from both. My only suggestion would be for an Apple user who can download etc scenarios and play them, to open file location for FOG digital (right click FOG digital icon, click on open file location) and forward all to Paul and Ian. If there is some file missing, they can search for it in their computer and restore somehow. Possibly a player who has it can email it to them. I have still no idea how I was able to play after a few years of not being able to.
