Recon behavior

Post by Duck Doc »

Has there been any thought to allowing recon units to either avoid combat on contact or to withdraw on contact in PzC 2?

Recons have fast movement, big spotting range and phased movement. All this allows them to avoid combat and withdraw on contact. But if a recon unit is out of moves and is caught by the enemy, then it fights according to normal attack/defense rules. We are not fans of artificially increasing unit survivability. Such mechanics are usually very annoying and prone to exploits (frail units can suddenly be used to create a roadblock or slow down enemy advance etc.). However, in Panzer Corps 2 units are harder to kill in general, and recons also benefit from this change. They also become harder to kill with experience, because experience does not increase defense (which is not very useful against big guns) but instead reduces enemy's chance to hit.
