dkalenda has won Late Antiquity Division A!
dkalenda has successfully defended his Late Antiquity Division A title securing a clean sweep of 9 straight wins and 35 points with his Kingdom of Soissons army. Well played dkalenda!
Note: this is not a record points total as ruskicanuk scored a 36 maximum in Season 3. This was before we changed the points tariff for Season 4, making it harder now to get a 36 point total.

Second Time Control check this Sunday 8th March . . .
The second and last Time Control check will take place this coming Sunday. The benchmark is 3 games completed in each section a player has entered. For those who have been playing in the Themed Event the target is 2 games completed in each of the other sections you have entered. Things are looking very good and I am not anticipating any changes. We do have one player who lives in a coronavirus hotspot and we have one player away for 2 weeks at the moment so I have given them exemptions from the Time Control check. They are both regulars in the FOG2DL and there has never been any match completion problems with them.

Division B
Karvon (Parthian with Arab allies) drew vs. lydianed (Sassanid Persian) 35-20 for a score of 2-0.
Battle took place along a small dried out wadi (stream). Our army was in a series of hills overlooking a vast plain beyond the wadi. Expecting elephants to counter our cataphracts, we deployed our light foot initially out of sight behind a large hill on our right and massed most of our light horse on the far left. The bulk of our horse and cataphracts we deployed out of sight behind the hills on our right. The Sassanids deployed a long line of heavy foot backed up by some archers in their center with a large number of their armored horse archers on their right with a smaller number of these on their left. I was pleasantly surprised to see no elephants, though sadly I'd not brought many cataphracts along.
In short, our light horse tangled with his heavy horse archers on his right in a long and losing skirmish which cost him a few units, his arrows and drew him off to the right sector of the field. Our light foot moved up and engaged his horse on our right, shooting up a few and drawing him across the wadi away from his infantry where our horse archers jumped out and mauled him further. He aggressively moved up his infantry to support and a series of fights took place between these units and my horse and cataphracts. We got the better of fight on our right, but night fell before we could fully exploit the situation.
The final view...

Macedonczyk (Indo-Greek with Kushan allies) defeated Rob123 (Carthaginian Hannibal in Africa) 44:6
The score is too high. In the middle of the game I had to withdraw 4 units and all including the elephant passed the cohesion test. In the next round my horses were so luckily pursuing enemy that they killed 2 more horses (I was so confused that I watched the replay twice). When the game was over, almost half of my army was fragmented.

klayeckles (kyrenean) defeats Cunningcairn (thracian) 54:25
Thracians attempted a power flanking manouver with cavalry. But the Kyreneans managed to delay it long enough for the better equiped hoplites to take the field and larger numbers of woodland troops to win the woods battle. GG
