Abstraction of convoy warfare in MP:
Not possible. That would mean to rewrite 90% parts of all code about subs, light cruisers and convoys. This would also kill an awful lot of content/gameplay.
Abstracting convoy warfare in singleplayer vs. CP AI is only possible because it actually never happens.
I'd rather have things like this:
- sub cost raised to 20PP while keeping 2PP upkeep and free repair cost, repairs up to 100% when starting the turn in port. But maybe a hard limit for German subs? 3 subs per tech?
- light cruisers extra defense from attacks by subs according to equipped anti-sub techs: depth-charge: +25%, depth-charge projector: 50%, hydrophone: 75%
- light cruisers upkeep raised to 2PP
Event-Log and detailed lists for diplo-income and INTEL-effects
- believe me or not, even modding in a single number value to get displayed in the game is a fricking hell of a lot work, so a clear no for now about detailed event-logs and diplo-income lists.
- I'd rather consider a few more icons for INTEL effects (army code broken, naval code broken etc.) just like the North-Sea-Blockade/Starvation/British-Supply-Crisis icons.

All sounds good the only one i cant really tell is the hard limit for German subs. I cant recall, do they begin tech 1, how long usually takes for level 2 and 3...It could create a big shortage of subs in early war. Besides keeping 2pp upkeep and increasing the price should keep their number in check.
Best way to know is playtest it anyways. I volunteer

Hard limit of 3 for German subs per researched tech (hard limit for all other nations is 1 per tech):
Germany starts with Diesel Propulsion Level 1 tech so that would be a 3 sub limit at the start and she already has 2 subs from the beginning.
From my experience subs only become effective with External Torpedo Storage Level 2 tech which Germany will get around start of 1915. So that would be 6 subs by then.
I will slightly lower research time for tech levels 3 and 4 so by the end of 1916 Germany could field 12 subs.
I propose as a compensation to re-reduce the upkeep to 1PP but keep all the repair-bonuses and keep Light Cruiser upkeep at 2PP.
In other news: I succeeded in modding in a counter to display the Russian Supply Level for the Entente player, more will follow.

Looks very reasonable. I just rememberd another small thing still going on...British subs in the baltic. Is there any way to forbid them from using russian ports?

Why do you think they should not be able to do so? After all Britain and Russia were allies.

Example for new icon indicating enemy ground units with broken army ciphers. Same will be available for naval units.
Once army/naval cipher is broken via INTEL event all affected units will suffer penalties in combat for three turns.
Individual chance per unit will be affected by experience, presence of commander and other factors.
Suggestions?

Looks good but the icons in areas out of sight are indicating units you cant see? This would give way too much info

Okay, I will make enemy units in FOW (fog of war) immune from detection by INTEL event when they are more than 3 hexes away from friendly units.

i wouldnt signal units in FOG though. I think showing the ones in sight should be more than enough.

Detecting land units up to 3 hexes away in FOW is too powerful in your opinion?

My idea is to make diplo point investments into INTEL more interesting by adding limited markings for units from nations with broken codes in FOW, for fronts where no scouting by friendly units with high LOS is available.
Because there is a chance that enemy units may escape detection, players may encounter nasty surprises when they rely on FOW detection of enemy units with broken codes alone.
The whole affair will be limted for 3 turns per "code broken" INTEL result.
The combat bonus on units with broken codes will be +3 on the first turn, +2 on the second and +1 on the third turn.
That kind of combat bonus will be about negligible in the later game on almost any fronts.
If this is still deemed to be too hard I propose to have every unit with broken code to be only susceptible once per "code broken" event.

I dont think it would be a big deal in any case. I just like surpises like having no idea what is the russian army size beyond border when the turks go to war. Nasty surprises is what you should be prepared for.
