I have now finished and loved Red Steel; here's some of the nitpick.
First the bad;
Lost of added bugs (Hopefully being worked on)
Soundtrack is flat (after so long hearing the same generic tunes)
Price (rather steep, although I understand it is like a full game in itself)
Second final battle is a beast but final battle feels a little underwhelming although it is good to have some air combat.
Good:
Soviet side maturely and respectfully done
Variety of missions is good
Scenarios are great, I've already replayed a few
Soviet units now have their distinctive looks instead of being generic infantry before.
Scenarios have good use of terrain strategy factored in.
We got to play Stalingrad from the otherside!
Things that could be improved on;
Music, bugs (duh), campaign took a very long time to come out and still with massive bugs despite long time and beta testing, campaign map tree should be in the main download instead of having to 'fish' for it online.
Other then that I would also like to thank Shards and bru888 for their excellent community crate missions; Castle Itter 1945 and Battle of Tallinn both are really excellent to play. (I don't seem to be able to download Battle of "Midway" though)

Fwiw, Midway had a weird FTP issue that should be fixed now, please give it a retry!
Re: Red Steel Review/ Feedback
Ok so 'midway' is certainly the strangest OOB game I have played. I liked it! Rather hard with so many tanks, glad I brought some at guns along.

Re: Red Steel Review/ Feedback
Could you name some? I'm at Stalingrad by now, and I've encountered nothing wrong with the campaign itself. There may (or may not) be a missing bridge in Rzhev, but otherwise I'm kinda happy with it so far.
The new UI is another story altogether...needs a LOTS of polishing!
That's actually something that I'm wondering myself. It's only the models of the engineers and naval infantry that are not "generic" (="Japanese") anymore. Why weren't the rest of the infantry models completed?

Re: Red Steel Review/ Feedback
Just finished Red Steel on the 4th difficulty which is what I usually play.
Really enjoyed it, it's nice to get to play the other side of a lot of battles that we've seen from the German point of view ad nauseum, particulary Stalingrad as mentioned in the original post! And the sheer amount of points the Soviet player gets is a huge change of pace. I was throwing replacements at everybody! You get replacements! And you get replacements! Everybody gets replacements! Which is a big change from playing as the Germans where I would only reinforce auxiliary units if absolutely necessary. Here, unless you're a KV-2 or something which is gonna cost an arm and a leg to fix I don't care, you get some replacements!
And I'd like to reiterate that the variety of scenarios, map types, etc was welcome. Some other games which will rename nameless which have the occasional similarity to Order of Battle can often drag in the middle couple of years on the Russian front. Lots of similar battles on similar maps with the names changed. By moving you around the front to play a lot of different types of battles this is mostly avoided. Plus it's rare to see much of the Crimea and environs in games, except maybe for Sevastopol.
Good stuff. Looking forward to Red Storm. It's gonna be called Red Storm I assume? That's traditional

Oh, I agree the UI is kind of wonky but it didn't bother me too much. I wish there was a UI size between "too big" and "too small", though.
Re: Red Steel Review/ Feedback
Red Storm would be a good name for it, Also it's a minor thing but I really like the Red Steel Icon on the campaign map.
GabeKnight there is the anti air target bug for one but most of my bugs come from playing the old version so I'm not sure what is fixed in 8.4.4?

That's what I wanted to say, kind of. It has nothing to do with the campaign, it's a bug within the game's engine. The floating preview could happen in any campaign, not just RedSteel.
