Re: A poll on faction presentation
The historical background is fine, in my opinion. It gives you a reasonably quick summary, and if you want more detail, there's always the internet.
The game background is often overshadowed by the randomized stats and starting buildings, to the point where I've played a typically "doomed" minor near Rome VERY successfully in only my second campaign due to a good starting leader and useful buildings, while playing Rome turned into a complete disaster because I had a pile of useless buildings (several in each generating Decadence), NO food-producers, a faction leader with -3 administration and -1 military, and various other issues. It took around 8-10 turns before I could fix enough of the mess to even begin to consider taking the army out for a stroll, and that didn't end well. It was all I could do not to disband part of the army due to lack of food, and dedicating 90% of the population to food production left very little for "details" like new buildings or culture. The starting background tells you what's EXPECTED to happen for that country, on average, but that info can immediately become irrelevant the moment the game begins.
I'm NOT happy about the base game's initial menu defaulting to loading the Persia DLC, and failing if you click on it because you don't have the DLC. How much effort would it have taken to check for the DLC and set the default accordingly?

Re: A poll on faction presentation
what i would like to see with the next patch are more faction specific buildings/missions like the ones for kartli/armenia.
Re: A poll on faction presentation
Text I recall is fine.
Re: A poll on faction presentation
+1
More building can maybe somewhat difficult do add due to balancing but missions/reports for some more minor factions would be awesome.
And i would love to see a short ingame history about all your leaders and generals. Just the name, the time he commamded, his traits, date and reason he died, maybe number of battles he fought (general) or the number of tokens he gained in his era (leader).
Regards

Thanks guys, with also votes from Steam, it gives an interesting look and what people felt about the intro texts. I'm pleasantly surprised to see most don't want shorter texts. Point taken for the next game!
The menu not defaulting to 310 GC if you don't have the DLC (you should!
) is surprisingly not that trivial to pull out, because some menus in the games are handled by a lower logical layer, ARCHON the game engine, and not my scripts. So communication is in order between the two. Or perhaps that's a ploy and pressure from Marketing so you will buy the DLC in the end, to avoid the issue?
