Extended turns in CEAW?

Post by robertcomposer »

Is there any way to continue play beyond Summer 1945? I was just ready to invade England and am eyeing the US ( LOL )
It would be nice to be able to continue
Thanks in advance - what a great, simple, and fun game to play!

Are you playing Grand Strategy v4.0 or vanilla CEAW?

In GS 4.0 it's hardcoded for the game to end in May 1945 and victory conditions will be calculated at that time. It's not simple to bypass that unless you have access to a Java Decompiler. There are many places you need to change. E. g. arrays have to be expanded because part of the array is the game year. That is used for e. g. leader reinforcements and number of Guards and SS units allowed.

You will also see that you will hit the wall with tech levels if you play beyond 1945. There aren't made any techs for 1946+. So tech level 6 is the max.

The game balance is made in such a way that the Axis player will most likely stall his expansion in 1942 or 1943 and then it's a race to see if the Allies can conquer Italy and Germany before May 1945 or not. If the Axis can survive until that date then he has won the game, even though the Axis would lose the war.

If you as the Axis are ready to invade England and USA in 1945 then probably the Soviets have surrendered. It's quite unlikely that is possible against a human opponent. The AI has not been optimised for GS v4.0 so it shouldn't be too hard to capture the entire map as the Axis before May 1945 unless you play with major advantage for the AI.
