Division D
carpenkm - Sassanid 591-628 AD with Arab (Bedouin) 300-636 AD allies beat gamercb - Arab (City) 300-633 AD 44-17
Well played by my opponent and a little unlucky. The map was dominated by two mountains, and the Arabs defended the pass between them and attempted a wide flanking attack. Unfortunately for the Arabs the Sassanids managed to catch and break all their massed archers early and the narrow pass proved a disadvantage as the Arabs could not use their superior numbers to outflank the horses. The flanking attack failed due to some unlucky dice rolls where a unit of cataphracts earnt their pay. Well played and good luck in the rest of the league.

Division B
oscarius - Anglo-Irish 1167-1274 AD with Irish 1131-1259 AD allies beat kraff - Ghurid 1100-1215 AD with Indian (Hindu North) 1050-1300 AD allies - 57 to 31
While my opponent had plenty of firepower of his own the startling armour-piercing fire of my longbowmen provoked him into a doomed uphill infantry assault before his elephants were in place for support. When the massed elephants did arrive attrition to ranged fire and the heavy weapons of my foot held them for long enough for my infantry to outflank them. A fun match, well-played.

Division B
oscarius - Spanish Lusitanian 300-10 BC (1600) beat Challenge1 - Seleucid 166-125 BC with Jewish 163-111 BC allies (1600): 50 - 20
A long and protracted game with both players acting quite cautiously and spending the first dozen turns skirmishing and manoeuvring. My foe was surprisingly reluctant to engage despite having many units capable of smashing my line (zealots, pikes, legionaries, superior warbands, cataphracts, lancers) and our main body of infantry spent much of the match staring at each other (I suspect my opponent feared pushback flanking from my strong reserve line). My cavalry slowly but surely snuck in the rear though and a last minute breakthrough sealed the deal in my favour. Could have been a draw even in the second-to-last turn as my CnC luckily survived a fragmented combat round and a chain disrupt might have evened the score enough to survive the remaining four turns and score a draw. Well played, this was a game where cunning positioning was everything which is what I love best about these big 1600 v 1600 battles.

Division C
edb1815 (Aragonese w/ Castilian ally) defeats Karvon (Tuareg) 61-48
After the initial onslaught of camels this looked to be in the bag for the Tuareg as their foot established a position on a hill with some rough patches. Gradually the situation turned as the knights and HI eventually told against the medium foot. Well played by Karvon.

Holien - (Carthaginian (Hannibal in Africa) 202 BC with Numidian/Moorish 341-56 BC allies) defeated Aeneas Stator - Greek (Mercenary) 460-281 BC 48 - 16
It was won with a Cavalry duel on the Greek Flank which meant the Greek line was enveloped. Thanks for the game and my first ever Mexican duel...

Weekly round-up
Very much a 2-horse race in Division A where ericdoman1 (Seleucid) has extended his winning sequence to 7 matches to lead tyronec (Syracusan) by 9 points. tyronec does have 3 matches in hand though and he beat ericdoman1 in their opening match. At the bottom there are still 4 players who have not gained a point yet. The leader in Division B, dim30 (Syracusan), has finished his matches with a narrow win to set a modest target of 24 points to beat. desertedfox (Kyrenean Greek) needs 4 points from his last 2 matches to go top and both batesmotel (Roman) and Captainwaltersavage (Hannibal in Italy) could put in late challenges. Still quite open in Division C where DanZanzibar (Samnite) has maintained his position at the top with a fifth straight win. Dreddradish (Kyrenean Greek) is tracking him with 3 wins and a draw from 4 starts and rexhurley (Sertorius) has started well with 3 wins from 4 starts. At the bottom GDod (Thracian) needs 3 points from his last 2 matches to relegate devoncop (Indo-Skythian). Bodhran (Bosporan) is still the leader in Division D but draws in his last 2 matches has allowed both DocVanNostrand (Thracian) and MarcoCato75 (Roman) to move closer and threaten his position. In Division E Holien (Hannibal in Africa) has moved to within 1 point of leader markleslie (Antigonid) after registering his sixth straight win. deeter (Gallic) and sivispacem (Sertorius) are still in with a chance, both players registering 3 wins so far. The automatic promotion place in Division F went to Rosedelio last week, but this week has seen mh5064 (Macedonian) secure second place after a late surge ahead of olddog52 (Spartan). At the bottom Meroka37 (Achaemenid) will finish in the wooden spoon position after being defeated in his eighth match.
Unbeaten runs of 3 matches or more
ericdoman1 (Division A) 7 matches
