Very good moves of Grenadine in the beginning blocked my elephants, then some luck in the spearmans fights and the elephants finally went into action. Pretty even fight except for the last 2 rounds.

Morat (Franks/Vikings) beats Rob123 (Arab Conquest) 63-57

Nail-biting and down to the wire battle that could have gone either way.

Franks stormed into an early lead by dispersing the Conquest horse on the left. Then the Conquest spears and lights got to work dismantling the centre (routing the prized berserkers before they managed to get a shot in). Some valiant huscarls/lancers just managed to hold on for long enough for the heavy horse to get back and (just) finish the job.

Many thanks to Rob123 for a terrific game. On another day the victory would have been his.

A narrow defeat for tyronec (Syracusan) this week means he now needs maximum points from his last 3 matches to deny ericdoman1 (Seleucid) the championship in what has been an unacceptably slow Division A. In Division B there are still 3 players who can pass desertedfox's (Kyrenean Greek) target of 24 points. Captainwaltersavage (Hannibal in Italy) had a good week with 3 wins and another conclusive win in his last match will take him to 25 points. batesmotel (Roman) is in the strongest position and can get to 30 points with 3 more decisive wins, while Challenge1 (Seleucid) can still reach 26 points.
Dreddradish (Kyrenean Greek) won Division C last week and this week DanZanzibar (Samnite) secured second place after a hard-fought tie with rexhurey (Sertorius). At the bottom, GDod (Thracian) needs 3 points from his last match against rexhurley (Sertorius) to avoid the drop and send devoncop (Indo-Skythian) down instead. MarcoCato75 (Roman) is the winner in Division D after a sixth straight victory took him beyond the reach of Bodhran (Bosporan) and DocVanNostrand (Thracian). At the other end of the table, ggarynorman (Ptolemaic) needs 4 points from his last 2 matches to send Rob123 (Achaemenid) down. In Division E, a cagey scoreless draw between the top 2 players, Holien (Hannibal in Africa) and markleslie (Ptolemaic), means Holien will win the division unless sivispacem (Sertorius) can get 19 points from his last 5 matches. One of those matches is against Bluefin (Syracusan), who must get at least 2 points from it to stand any chance of finishing above Aeneas Stator (Greek Mercenary) and avoiding relegation. Weekly round-up
A surprise defeat for Nosy_Rat (Lombard) at the hands of late reserve dim30 (Hepthalite) means that current leader Questar17 (Bosporan) just needs 1 point from his crucial match with Nosy_Rat to become the new champion of this section. At the bottom, SpeedyCM (Jewish Revolt) picked up a useful score-draw this week which means he needs just 2 points from his last 2 matches to send Morbio down. I will have to check the records but he could be the first player to avoid automatic relegation without actually winning a match. 2 wins for snooky51 (Sassanid) this week has moved him right out of the relegation zone where 4 players will have rexhurley's (Arab Bedouin) final tally of 10 points as their target to beat. Giacofa93 wrapped up his promotion winning season with an eighth win in Division C and Warg1 (Arab City) now needs just 2 points from his last match to pip kraff (Visigoth) to the runners-up position. ulysisgrunt (Jewish Revolt) is relegated. Only 1 match was completed in Division D this week, but it turned out to be a massive upset as bottom-placed Doyley50 (Palmyran) beat promotion challenger Blagrot (Jewish Revolt). In Division E, Lynx57 (Roman) won a crucial match against Darkwater247 (Germanic Horse Tribes) to overtake Badger73 (Palmyran) and go top of the table with a final total of 27 points. The only player that can prevent him from winning automatic promotion now is Darkwater247 who needs a maximum of 12 points from his last 3 games. 2 of those matches are against relegation threatened olddog52 (Dacian) and GeneralKostas (Armenian). There is nothing to report from Division F this week.

At the bottom, Triarii (Arab North Africa) and late reserve MorkinTheFree (Scots-Irish) are starting to become detached from the others. In Division B, 2 wins for desertedfox (Khorasanian) has almost certainly secured second place, while 2 more defeats for Nijis (Armenian) means that he will be relegated if Challenge1 (Andalusian) can pick up just 4 points from his last 5 matches. random27 (Navarrese) finished up his campaign in Division C with his seventh win to go top on 28 points meaning that Giacofa93 (Viking Ireland) now needs 5 points from his last 2 matches to win automatic promotion. At the other end of the table, paulmcneil (Rus) needs 6 points from his remaining 5 matches to send General Shapur (Anglo-Danish) down.
