Panzer Corps 2 - World Championship Round 3 Update

Post by AlbertoC »

The Panzer Corps 2 - World Championship moves into the third round today and the battle for the top of the leader board remains mostly unchanged, with Kleko11 extending their lead.

Round 2 leader board:
1) kleko11 5930
2) bubu13 5716
3) FritzchenEK-I 5429
4) DarkBlueInk 5428
5) KhalilGibran 5347

The next battle takes us to Moscow in 1941. This will be a tough and protracted battle for the heart of a nation. Expect to score lots of points here...

Tournament Scoring Update

There have been two significant changes to how scoring works for this round, which you should be aware of:

1) In case of early victory the winner will get full points for all victory hexes for all remaining turns.
2) There are also separate points awarded for victory itself (500 points).

These changes have been introduced due to the feedback we received after the first two rounds.

We hope you'll like these changes to scoring. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Very much like the changes to the scoring system. I just wish they could be rolled back to previous rounds. Someone might end up winning this "World Championship" because they exploited the clock...and a player who should be crowned champion loses out because of the previous scoring system which penalised an early victory particularly at El Alamein. That is sure to cause upset if it happens.

It took two tournaments and two rounds of this one for them to understand the problem of their scoring ... you can continue to request an adjustment for rounds 1 and 2 or stop wasting your time

2) There are also separate points awarded for victory itself (500 points).

500 points more with people who are unlucky to run into an opponent who does not play or stops playing.
Even if you think (rightly) that the Swiss system in the end will solve the problem of inactive players this bonus only amplifies the problem ...

I'm sorry for providing only negative feedback, although I appreciate the consideration of the problem and the attempt to resolve it.
we are on the right track but the road is long and steep ...

As someone who argued with several players to give Slitherine a chance to fix the problem, I can only say they fell short of the goal. The fix should have been retroactive. And the tournament screams for a better solution to the no-shows and quitters. And a definition of "victory" for the 500 points should be clearly stated. Sorry to say, but the more I think about 10 additional months of this, the less I want to play.

There was a chance to fix this crap after two rounds. The played rounds should be treated as eliminations, kick inactive players and reset the scores. Well, for such a move, you need to have balls.

Unfortunately, we will be tiring in this crap until the end.

Can someone explain to me why my opponent from the second round, who quit after six turns, is still playing in the third round. Probably because when the game is not his way, he will quit, pissing off the next opponent. He should be banned for such behavior.

Great.
So I have to bite the bullet. Drop from #3 down to #50 ?
Did I do anything to you to deserve that kind of treatment? Answered every turn as fast as I could - 12h tops!
Or do you want to show how incapable this system is and I am your collateral damage.
