Post by madaxeman »

The BHGS has appointed Miniature Wargames magazine as the publisher of the official Show Guide for Britcon 2009.

This means The 2009 Britcon Show Guide will now appear in the full circulation of the August issue of Miniature Wargames as well as being distributed free to all of the competition and expo attendees at Britcon 2009. This will help traders, as it means there will be a lot more promotion of the show than every before, and also competitors, as you will be able to find out who is exhibiting, what special offers they have, and also to save on postage by placing advance orders with all of our 2009 traders.

Miniature Wargames is offering specially discounted advertising rates in this issue to all Britcon 2009 traders who book before 26th June 2009, so if you are a Trader and would like to take advantage of this great offer at Britcon 2009 please complete the booking form online as soon as possible.

For further details on Trader participation please see this link.

Britcon also hosts 3 FoG competitions, with an "early" and "late" 15mm FoG and an "open" 25mm FoG being offered. For details see the BHGS Website.

The "trade stands" side of Britcon is filling up nicely, with only 3 stands now left. If anyone knows of traders wishing to take part who have not yet confirmed entries for the show, please can you nudge them to get in touch as the deadline for inclusion in August's Miniature Wargames is this Friday!

Most (if not all) of them will be offering special show deals or "collect at show post free" offers - an up to date list of Traders should be available early next week.

Your spelling is much better than Simon's, and he wrote the rules. Perhaps Richard and Terry were spell checkers  , they can't have had much time for anything else.

Anyone who knows who is answering on the official e-mail, bhgs@slitherine.co.uk? I've tried to get an answer from them regarding payment (any other way than cheques, I have'nt seen one in Sweden since the 80's) and whether or not it is possible to stay until Monday.

Would appreciate any help!

Hi, it's possible JD is away on business (he does that a lot) and not replying to mails.

Pop me an e-mail (hammy@the-riverbank.net) and I am sure we can sort things out.

Staying over Sunday night is not a problem. Most people leave on Sunday but there is normally a small group of 10 or so who stay till Monday and have another evening on the town in Manchester.

I am sure we can sort another payment method, even if it means paypal payment to me and then me sending the money to JD or something.

More Updated news on traders

Post by madaxeman »

Here's some more news on offers from our exhibitors at the Trade Show part of
Britcon this year.

We have now added Hexwar, Musketeer Miniatures and Maverick Models to the list of exhibitors.
Also the Warlord Games team will be present with their own stand, as well as their figures being available from several of the other exhibitors

Products for Wargamers have expanded their range of figure carrying cases to
include hard bottomed as well as "pick and pluck" cases and foam inserts to
accommodate figures from all sorts of games. They also have extended their
already-comprehensive range of metal and plastic bases with some super-accurate
MDF bases tailor-made for WAB, DBM, FoG, Flames of War, Warhammer Fantasy and
40k, all at only £1.00 per pack. Britcon pre-orders placed with PFW qualify for
a 5% discount, or 10% if you also pay in advance.

Veteran Miniatures/Instant Armies have been steadily building up their stocks of
15mm and 28mm Renaissance figures in anticipation of the release of FoG
Renaissance, so if you are inspired by what you see in the FoG-R Beta
Competition, their stand could be the place to go for a "quick-fix" solution!

As well as their usual "15% off GW" offers, Lesley's Bits Box will be selling
the rather-too-addictive "Wings of War" WW1 aircraft game at Britcon - hopefully
including copies of the "all in one box" DeLuxe starter sets – unless they sell
out before the show of course! To reserve a copy for collection simply email
them before the show to place your order

Wargames Inc are one of the country's largest stockists of FoW miniatures, rules
and scenery, and they will be bringing pretty much all of it to the show this
year. If you are planning on adding to your FoW forces – or even thinking of
starting out with FoW – it's worth remembering that any advance orders they
receive before 10/8/09 will qualify for a 15% discount.

Curteys Miniatures have a new range of resin fortifications and buildings that
have been designed to complement their 28mm "Asian"-themed figure ranges, and
these will be available at the show.

As well as supplying their own extensive ranges, Essex Miniatures are agents for
Skytrex's 15mm WW2 ranges of vehicles and figures, so if you need any more tanks
(and lets face it, who doesn't?) you can place an order with Essex freom the
Skytrex range and collect it from them at the show post-free.

Donnington are now selling their "New Era" ranges in FoG unit-sized blister
packs, and will have a complete set available to purchase and take home with you
at the show. You can also buy their new "mix and match" Medieval baggage train
sets – the last time you saw so many things loaded on a horse, you were seven
years old and playing Buckaroo!

Contact details for all the traders listed here are available on the BHGS website at www.bhgs.co.uk

We are now in the position to offer a limited number of Day Entries to Britcon 2009.

These will be offered on a first come first served basis although priority will be given to those players who are willing to balance periods or to float between periods if necessary.

Please contact us in the usual way as detailed on http://www.bhgs.co.uk/Nationals/IntroPage.htm

Britcon is just around the corner and therefore the deadline for submitting your army list is rapidly approaching – or to me more precise, for virtually all our competitions it is this Friday, 31st July. Make sure you submit your list in time – it helps the period umpires, and may save you a points penalty!

This year we are hoping to have more “figures and scenery” prizes than ever before, as well as all the usual computer games and Osprey books on offer for the lucky winners. Magister Militum will be giving a full FoG Army pack, Kerr & King are providing prizes for the FoW competitions, Donnington have offered a selection of pieces from their new Medieval Baggage range, Products for Wargamers will provide a “Mystery Bag” of terrain – more prizes to be announced as well as many others.

To help you plan your trip to Britcon, here's some more news and offer from our traders.

Miniature Wargames are our sponsoring publication this year, and the full showguide appears in their August issue. MW’s editor Andrew Hubback will also be at Britcon throughout the show, and they will be running a special subscription offer from their stand as well.

On Curteys Miniatures stand you will find their latest releases for the Macedonian Successors, including mounted and dismounted generals, Companions, Cataphract and Agema commanders and armoured phalangites – and maybe even the Armoured Elephant! The stand will also feature previews of forthcoming releases from Kingmaker Miniatures Late Medieval range, and some new C13th Medievals from Curteys.

Kerr & King will as always be providing both prizes and trophies for the Flames of War competition, and keeping with tradition they are also putting the finishing touches to a new battlefield objective marker to be given away free to all the players in the Flames of War Tournament. They also plan to have a couple of pre-release buildings from their latest City on a Box set for sale over the weekend.

Donnington are providing all our competitors in the FoG Renaissance Beta competition with a free set of casualty figures that can be used as cohesion markers for the game.

Don’t forget, pretty much all our traders are running “order in advance, collect at show” offers – and many of them have discounts if you do so. If you pick up a copy of August’s Miniature Wargames you’ll be able to see the full exhibitor listing there, otherwise for details of all our traders and their contact addresses go to the BHGS website at www.bhgs.co.uk

In the latest exciting development (sorry, getting carried away) Warlord Games will be offering a selection of their figure packs as prizes, and should also have a secret "freebie" for all the 15mm and 25mm Ancients and FoGR players as well....
