Kroche Berber (Wattanid) 1466-1500AD defeated oscarius Castilian 1476-1497 AD 60-39
Castilian forces took the lightly defended hill on the Berber right. The left flank was contested by light horse on both sides, but Berbers fed in a couple more full units as support to chase away the Castillians. Main melee in the centre - Berber spearmen got to the top of the hill to face Castilian pike, including a Swiss pike unit. The Berber spear on the hill fought well against the pike but were a little bit trapped by a between a small wood and difficult slope. Standard Castilian pike were routed as the Berbers had more units to take advantage of gaps in the Castilian line as individual pikes pushed forward from their main line. Some auto breaks due to the valour shown by both forces and Berbers very happy with the close fought victory and that the Swiss Pike unit could only beat one of our units up at a time
Thanks for the game

Kroche (Pyrrhic 280-275BC w Samnite allies) drew with BobGanoush (Spartan 280-228BC)
55-47
A game of two flanks - The left was contested between heavy foot on both sides (Pike vs veteran hoplites) while the right was mainly fought between Samnite impact troops and lower quality (average ! ) Spartan spear. The Spartans held against the pike and gradually got into flanking positions to achieve a complete victory on the left. However the Spartan force on the right could not hold out long enough and was destroyed on or around the same turn. This left both armies with half their forces standing , there was still some skirmishing and fighting against isolated units, but for the last few turns the main forces in both armies avoided getting exposed and just made sure they were in a decent position if attacked. GG!

Morat (French/Normans) beat IMC (Franks) 62-53
Brutal affair fought across a stream and a range of low hills. French moved right to try to get at a patch of flat ground, were matched by their Frankish foes and a series of fights erupted across the whole battlefront.
On the right two equally matched cavalry forces slugged it out, on the left the Franks demolished the French lights, in the centre and centre right a mixture of French archers/crossbows and heavy foot took on huscarls and spears.
In the end a series of little things went (just) the way of the French, their cavalry just about got the upper hand and the fight in the centre/right ended with the French just about dispersing the Frankish spears. But it was very close: on another day and with a modicum better luck IMC would have triumphed.
Many thanks to IMC for another terrific battle, played in a great spirit.

Triarii with French & Vikings defeats Garokan with Germans 42-14.
As cavalry faced off on one wing and rough ground allowed missile troops and Beserkers to hold off German cavalry on the other a concentration of numbers of Huscarls and Dismounted Armoured Cavalry gave just enough superiority for the German infantry centre to be overwhelmed. Thanks for the game.

Rosedelio (Vikings) defeats Triarii (French) 49-21
The lights and hidden French cavalry caused a problem for the lights-less Vikings, but the sheer number of spears the Vikings had meant they were still able to get auto-drops in the smaller force of superior French infantry.

carpenkm Arab Conquest 638 drew with markleslie German 933-1049 AD with Polish
59 - 47 in favour of carpenkm
A really well played game where the Arabs took up a strong position on a hill and the Germans skillfully picked it apart. A bit of luck for the Arabs gave them an edge in the end, but if the luck had gone the other way it would have been a German win. Well played.

Carpenkm* Kingdom of Soissons (461 - 486 ACE) with Germanic foot tribes allies beat desertedfox Roman 313 - 378 AD with Alan Allies
60 -52
I'm not sure how this happened. The Romans looked set for a win, but some rather unusual resilience from the Sub Romans (which makes a nice change!) resulted in enough time for the Roman left wing to collapse for a rather unlikely come back. Well played - you deserved better.

Holien (Seleucid 166-125 BC with Jewish 163-111 BC allies) Defeated Stones1985 (Achaemenid Persian with Greek Allies) 70% to 55%
A tale of two Shafts the short and the long….
The Persians sat atop a nice large hill looking across at the Seleucid commander who was sat on a smaller hill at a diagonal on his right flank. The Seleucid commander knowing a frontal attack would be fatal attempted to swing far left and approach the hill from its narrower end while the Persian commander swung his force towards the Seleucid hill pinning his right flank on his long hill and rough ground at the base. This 180% pivot was the focus of the battle and the Seleucid forces were given porcupine coats and unit after unit fell to the massive rain of arrows. At the high point for the Persians they were within one unit brake to win the battle with a very clear lead of 42% to 20% with a dominating 22 point lead the Seleucid commander was full of despair….
However - this was the high point for the Short Shafts and then the Long Shafts started to hit home…. The Persian right flank was broken and the pike blocks and Zealots moved to deal with the larger bulk of the Persians. These were delayed by several Cataphracts who were overwhelmed by sheer numbers of Persian foot but bought the Seleucid army time to pivot.
The end result does not reflect how close the battle was and ultimately the longer shafts of the pike blocks won over the short shafted arrows… It was only at the last few turns it turned and even then it could have gone the Persian way.
A tough fight against a good friendly player - Thank you

Sorry for the delay in updates - real life issues!
Here are those all important tables with about 3 weeks to go.
Div A
Tyronec looks favourite to take top spot although if he stumbles, markleslie, Eridoman1 and Rosedelio look poised to pounce
Div B
This looks to be a real battle to the end with Morat currently in first, but angusosbourne, Bagatrix and frederic all in reach and all with 1 game to play. With strong finishes IMC, and Badger could still be in the mix too.
Div C
Yinsdoo2 is clearly out in front , with aderarcos and mh5064 in second and third respectively having completed their matches. Ulysisgrunt could still upset the apple cart with good results in his remaining 3 games.
Good luck to you all and please make sure you finish your games in time to avoid adjudications and unfairness for those challenging for positions.
