Tides of Conquest Bronze Age and late medieval campaigns - starting up
Cheers all -
I'd like to announce that I am organizing a Bronze Age campaign set in 1200 BC and a late medieval campaign in 1300 CE using my Unity tool, Tides of Conquest.
I'd like to run about four weeks per round of battles, plus a week in between for doing orders.
You don't need to download ToC to play, but it will help with planning the turn and seeing your conquests unfold on the map. A link for the tool is here:
https://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewfo ... 8882281a8b
If you don't want to use the tool, though, I can walk you through your orders. Note that there is a system of internal politics that determines how long empires can last, but you don't need to master it and can enjoy the game just by fighting battles.
If you want to get a sense of what a campaign is like, here's a link. Note that the graphics have improved and the rules have changed a bit since then...

For now, I'd like to keep the factions limited to Europe, the Middle East and India to make sure that there aren't too many NPC factions. If factions don't have a player, then I use the tool's AI functions to complete their turn and recruit someone to fight with their armies, or do so myself.
I hope we can start up the 1200 BC fairly quickly, though it might take a bit longer to fill out the extensive faction list for the 1300 CE scenario.
If there are enough players involved, then we can extend the war to China and the Silk Road armies.
Let me know if you're interested in one or both scenarios!

I'd like to get in on this. Registering interest in both campaigns, preferring Hittites for the Bronze Age and Aragonese for the Late Medieval campaign.

Got those! I'll start looking up those who'd previously expressed interest in a campaign, and send out notifications.

I'll give it a go as the Assyrians. My only hesitation is, given my timezone in Japan, I'm not always certain I can finish a game in three weeks.

Great! In case no one else takes the Egyptians in the 1200 BC scenario, I can act as a backstop reserve there. And like Karvon said, I may have difficulties with a three-week deadline (although not time zone related).

Great! I'll add everyone in.
Re the time period for game completion, I'm certainly open to extending it. How long do you find it normally takes you to complete games?

Time period is no problem to me, I’m retired

I think 4 weeks should be ample time to finish in nearly all cases.

Four weeks would work for me as well.

Four weeks it is...
anderarcos11, Doyley50, indibil - would you like to select from the Sea Peoples, Mycenaeans and Gasgans? If so we can get started. Or if you're more interested in the 1300 scenario, I can wait until others sign up.

Hi Steve,
Can you put me down for the Medieval one. I'll give the Venetians a go!
thanks,
Dave.

You can choose the Egyptians too, if you'd like. I'm merely acting as a backstop there, in case no one picks them up.

Re: Tides of Conquest Bronze Age and late medieval campaigns - starting up
I am interested, but I remember a certain sticking point from the older Tides of Conquest campaigns. At least one of the participants need all the DLC's involved for the battling nations. So if at least of one the participants had the DLCS for the two nations in the battle, he could set it up and send an invite to the other person. But if both participants lacked one or another DLC, none of them could easily set up the battle.
I do not have the bronze Age DLC Swifter than Eagles, so I don't think I can participate in that at all. For the medieval campaign, since I only have the base game, I think I can play and am interested in Golden Horde, Poland or Lithuania since I have the army lists for these through the 13th century. This guarantees that at least one person can set up the battle (since all players do have the base game). Should have grabbed a few DLCs when they were on sale, now I regret not doing so.

Ah, right - the time warp feature might make it a bit easier, but I think that might be a sticking point. Let me see how much time these two take to run, and I can also set up a Hellenistic campaign that uses just the base game armies.
Do you have a preference between Polish, Golden Horde and Lithuania?

Re: Tides of Conquest Bronze Age and late medieval campaigns - starting up
I would like to go for the medieval period rather than the Bronze Age, Swedes would do nicely.
Re: Tides of Conquest Bronze Age and late medieval campaigns - starting up
Hey Nijis,
Golden Horde would be my preference, followed by Poland then Lithuania.
By the way, been poking around the new TOC tool, but I do not understand the difference between a raid and an attack. I know a sufficiently successful attack puts the province either directly under your control or at least puts it under your sphere of influence, but a successful raid seems to make the province pillaged. Fair enough, but does the raid give the victorious raider something or return, or is it solely for denying the resources of the border provinces for the enemy?
