Game is just quick save quick load simulator until you find the way to win there is no real freedom in this you have to find the correct path or else you will lose anyway. The line of sight in this game is completely opaque and the AI in this game seem to abuse it heavily (there is certainly cheating involved even if developers try to deny it), The AI knows every angle they can get a shot from and position their units perfectly for it while your units run around back and forth trying to get line of sight of an enemy units that's shooting direct line of fire weapons.
Enemy units will be invisible to you until they start firing or you get right up on them, then you'll watch your units shoot the building for 10 minutes before they die, meanwhile your own infantry in buildings will get torn to shreds in seconds. The terminator enemies have been largely manageable for me but the Cartel missions are entirely miserable affairs that aren't difficult in so much as they require you to save scum constantly to see what the enemy has and where.
In the end the enemy can lose all its units because the next mission it will just have more but if you lose more than a couple units it's game over. The game also strangles you with an awful supply system that restricts how many units you can have but then some missions it will give you a dozen extra units in mission and in other missions they give you one or two squads and that's it. The game wants you to use infantry to screen for tanks but the camouflage and line of sight systems makes any advance with infantry into an open space entirely suicidal, you'll lose enough men that your squad will be useless the rest of the mission and not worth risking and thus become unable to actually then complete the objective as some missions will spam egregious numbers of AT troops, minefields and artillery that will shred your vehicles if you try to move them up in either support or as a spearhead. For some reason the Cartel ATGM squads also have a sniper too so countering them with infantry basically guarantees losing multiple squad members crossing the distance as smoke seems entirely RNG about if it has any real effect.
The game had a lot of potential but unfortunately the mission design is appalling along with RNG elements. A weird AI that seems to have more benefits with units that have better accuracy than yours, unlimited ammo and fuel and unlimited reinforcements in most missions. Enemies standing stationary in the open and they will then just turn around and 100% accuracy snipe your units and wipe an entire squad in seconds who are supposed to be getting a cover bonus from being in buildings. That's not a skill issue, that's just RNG screwing you over, time to RELOAD YOUR SAVE AGAIN. You move infantry through a town piece by piece and wipe out infantry you find and the second you move a vehicle forwards surprise there was an RPG squad in a building somewhere that you never saw and they pop up and your vehicle is instantly dead. RELOAD YOUR SAVE AGAIN. Oh, you completed an objective, now the game spawns a handful of armoured vehicles in this one place that attack and objective and you have a limited amount of time to stop it. RELOAD SAVE AGAIN. Move a unit to the other side of the map, you have 15 minutes to win. Oh, and there's an entire enemy base in between surrounded by mines and filled with ATGM troops, snipers and artillery. Hope you enjoy spending the next 2 hours RELOADING SAVES as you try and decipher what exact action the game devs are trying to force you to take.
AND NOW THE BIG QUESTION IS THIS AN RTS OR A PUZZLE GAME ?? it seems this is mostly a Puzzle game. There is no real freedom of choices, the dev expects you to use a certain path of choices in gameplay or else your will lose. Please add "Puzzle game" in your game category next time so we know what we are buying.
In the end, whatever fun there is to be had is buried beneath not just because of difficult, but instead a frustrating pile of bad mechanics with a weird AI that comes with unlimited reinforcements and with units with better accuracy than your troops and a mission design that gives you the illusion that this is an RTS but in reality, it's not at all..
