deploying Fallschirmjager

It does not seem possible to deploy paratroopers on anything but airfields. What if I want to deploy them already on the ground?

We're aware of this shortcoming, and the plan is to allow paratroopers to be deployed as airborne units if the air toggle is on, or as a normal ground unit if the ground toggle is on.
That's the plan anyways. :)

If you gave them a truck or half track do they not automatically deploy as a ground unit? Or perhaps I am mixed up with PG on this one... :?

That is how it is for me. If they have an Opel or Halftrack, there is no option to be deployed "in the air". If not, then usually the ONLY option I get is "in the air". Although, I never think to toggle it, as the ones I want on the ground have transports all the time, and vice versa.
