So let me start out by saying that I invaded the Soviet Union in 1941, and managed to win by taking 3 objectives on the very last turn. Ok, I`m not the best player here, but I am getting the crap pounded out of me by the AI airforce. Maybe their planes should be grounded for the first few turns, to allow you a proper blitzkrieg start? Maybe some of their ground units could start further back, so you could catch they in transport as they moved to the front?
Questions:
When you seize an enemy airfield, are the air units based there destroyed?
The pioneer units with the boat, do they act like the Bridging Engineers in PG, which allowed other units to cross rivers and bypass traffic jams? Any such units in this game?
I also like the switch key for the AA and arty units. What about a motorcycle unit with good off road stats, low attack, and could evade when attacked like a sub unit. A cheap unit that could be used to scout ahead, but the switch button would turn them into weak infantry unit that could block a road or RR hex.
RC2 last minute questions and suggestions.

No, they can fly off to another field. Although, if there is none, I'd assume they will eventually crash from lack of fuel.bobk wrote:When you seize an enemy airfield, are the air units based there destroyed?
The Bridging Engineers (name escapes me at this second) should work that way. At least they did, because I carry a unit with me as one of my core units and deploy them if there is some rivers that I need to bypass. They make for decent infantry too.bobk wrote:The pioneer units with the boat, do they act like the Bridging Engineers in PG, which allowed other units to cross rivers and bypass traffic jams? Thin k its Bruck pioneer or something like that. You will notice two infantry with an upside down boat on wheels, those are the bridge engineers. They really are nice to have around so you can flank over a river and hit that defending artillery from behind.
Some of the Russian scenarios I find the Ruski planes start far out back and do not show up till turn 2 at the earliest. I run 4 fighters by the time I hit Russia, buy some AA and you can knock out the red airforce eventually, I do it every game unless there are too many rain or snow turns.

As there will be no mayor changes in gameplay and units I don´t think there will be any new units rather then functions. Motorcycle troops and more options on different transports(sdkfz 7-10, horses, etc)were discussed and rejected as not to be nessesary or maybe ,in my opinon, to complex for the devs to implement...bobk wrote:

About your questions :
No, the air units which are there are not destroy, but it would be nice if this could be somehow simulated - maybe in an add-on or something - because most of the polish and russian airforce were destroyed while they were still grounded. If I remember right, there was something like landed aircraft back in "Pacific Admiral", all that would have to be done is to make the airfields as an containerr for lets say 4 units and if the airfield is hit by an bomber the stationed unit are damaged or destroyed, maybe some dev reads this and thinks about it...
The guys with the boat are bridging engineers or in german Brückenpioniere, and yes you can use them as an bypass to cross rivers.
Another good and simple idea is to reduce (cap) initiative for air units being in an friendly airfield. -refuelling airplanes are sitting ducks...No, the air units which are there are not destroy, but it would be nice if this could be somehow simulated - maybe in an add-on or something - because most of the polish and russian airforce were destroyed while they were still grounded. This feature would increase airfield selection strategy. When an airfield was captured, pilots didnt land there until the area around was secured, right?
