DLC 1943 BETA Items to Watch for
With the DLC 1943 BETA starting up, I just wanted to mention a few things.
Everyone is free to create their own threads for their entire DLC experience, or if you want you can organize super threads for each of the scenarios.
As always, difficulty is something we're always interested in hearing feedback on. Be sure to mention if you imported your CORE or if you are using the pre-built one, and also what difficulty setting you are playing on.
I am particularly interested in feedback regarding the Kursk Campaign, the 7 scenarios that exist in the middle of the campaign. Ponyri, Olkhovatka, Yakovlevo, Oboyan, Kursk Armory North, Kursk Armory South, and Prokhorovka.
The NORTH path of Ponyri and Olkhovatka is supposed to be directed towards players who like fighting infantry and rough terrain battles. Is there too little infantry, or too much? Too few enemy tanks, or too much?
The SOUTH path of Yakovlevo and Oboyan is supposed to be directed towards players who like fighting tank and open terrain battles. Is there too few, or too many tanks?
Also, several scenarios start with the AI getting the FIRST MOVE. How important is this information for you? Most scenarios where the AI moves first have AUX Axis units placed down to take absorb the shock of the first turn attack, so even if you don't see it coming, you shouldn't have multiple units die before you even have a chance to react. Even so, do you think its better to specifically mention in a briefing when the AI has the opening move, as opposed to the player always going first?
Looking forward to hearing your feedback, on this and all topics of DLC 1943. Good luck, have fun, and thank you for helping us create the best experience we can for our community at large!

Re: DLC 1943 BETA Items to Watch for
That the enemy moves first should be mentioned during the briefing.
Say something like
"The Russians are attacking us" (The enemy moves first in this scenario)
How many +Prestige defending players get per turn, who moves first and so on are potentially nice additions for future Panzer Corps patches or games.
What I wish for a near future patch is that the ground is actually using the winter/frozen tileset when it is winter upon deployment.

Yes, who moves first should be mentioned in the briefing.
What worries me a bit is the likely gap between a imported core vs. the initial DLC core. With the potentially large prestige pool from the import (sitting at 40k here personally) and the heros I am afraid that some scenarios will be very easy for them while being very hard for a fresh core.
I will try to give both cores a shot if my time allows it.

FORMAL QUESTION
First of all thank you for selecting me as a beta tester - I am honoured. I'll try to be as constructive as possible
I have a formal question - what type of feedback are you looking for? Do you need quick posts after completing each scenario or a more extensive, general feedback ( maybe in form of AAR upon completing the whole campaing )? The second option would obviously require more time. Is there any deadline for it? When the new DLC is going to be released?
Thanks

All feedback is good. First impressions, detailed feedback. It all has its place and serves a different purpose. Kerensky may have specifics he wants but just let us know what you think!
Re: DLC 1943 BETA Items to Watch for
Ok, but is there any time frame? The more time I'll have , the most detailed my feedback will be, but I understand that the DLC will be realeased soon + you need some time to implement the possible changes.

We usually do a beta update once per week. The final beta will be end of Feb and by this time its too late to make anythign but minor important changes. The main chance for feedback is over the next 2 weeks.

Ok cool, it will be a quick feedback then:)

Yuck..
I prefer the first strike..
Means a lot!
But, yes I think the russians at this point started a lot of the festivities.

Any chance for an expanded library? I'm running into Soviet units I'm not familiar with. Imagine how newbies will scratch their heads.

You should be able to right click on the unit and it will give you the breakdown stats.
Re: DLC 1943 BETA Items to Watch for
You're talking about the stats shown in the info panel. Not as slick as the library.

I really like the campaign flowchart this time by the way. I like how your victory levels determine which battlegrounds you will go to, it is really nicely done.
Re: DLC 1943 BETA Items to Watch for
I played at General difficulty for maybe 12-15 hours this weekend and found to be very difficult for me and even impossible to win Kharkov for a great victory. I tried a few times to start the scenario again and both times it was too hard to conquer even minimal of 7 cities. I think the AI is great in most cases. Furthermore, I do not understand the object of the scenario, where are the prisoners? I think I don't know how to fight on the front so wide and so many enemy units...As always, difficulty is something we're always interested in hearing feedback on. The prisoners appear in captured armored cars when you take certain cities.

Re: DLC 1943 BETA Items to Watch for
I would like to see some note about the Russians moving first. I have forgotten that they get first move on several games in the various DLC's to date, my airforce has taken some nasty beatings since I did not notice my bombers were not adjacent to the fighters
open season for the Red Air Force.

Re: DLC 1943 BETA Items to Watch for
Notes about AI going first are present in all scenarios of BETA 2.
There are only 2 total though, Dniepstrovsk and Kiev43.

Re: DLC 1943 BETA Items to Watch for
When you get a DV early, is there a larger prestige jump? If not, should you play it out to the last turn so that you get the prestige for each turn?
With the low level of prestige, I have delayed my DV until the last turn, so I get prestige for each turn "played." But if that is pointless, and an early DV nets a larger prestige pay off, then I am good with it. Seems the games would calculate those last 2-3 turns in the "payout" when you win.

Re: DLC 1943 BETA Items to Watch for
Most scenarios reward 0 per turn prestige, and decisive victories do reward more prestige than minor victories, so dragging a scenario out for prestige doesn't work. You can drag it out to collect more kills and experience sure, and on the occasional scenario that does have per turn injections you might be able to drag it out, but ultimately it will only be worth a few hundred extra prestige and that is weighted against the possibility of taking extra damage or even losing units entirely if a scenario is dragged out.
Re: DLC 1943 BETA Items to Watch for
I have yet to see the 1943 DLC scenario where the Russians move first?! (I just finished Prokhorovka, Yakovlevo-path)
