OSX Shadow issues

Post by Mkboy1313 »

I figured I'd start a new thread on this to see if anyone else is having the same issue with heavy shadows on the Mac. I'm using a late 2011 Macbook (not the Air, which was previously associated with this issue). It really renders the game nearly unplayable as so many visual cues are obscured.

Is there any way to determine what video card you have installed in your Macbook?

I will take another look at this issue and perhaps we can get you a version to see if we can nail down a cause.

Cheers

Glad to help in any way i can.

The card in this Macbook is an Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB

On the plus side, who knew there were shadows! I've always played via iPad and never knew that detail exited. Very nice.

Does disabling shadow make any difference to the lighting issue?

No, disabling shadows doesn't work.

I've a MacBook with an Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB and had not shadow issues.

Probably is not in the video card the problem

Guys - what versions of OSX are you running? I'm not sure of how the video drivers differ between OSX versions, but I know Apple roll their own generally.

I am looking into this, and I wonder whether either of these links might help:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4110 - to potentially force it to use the discrete card (where the drivers might be better)

http://gfx.io/ - small utility which lets you see which card is being used and allows you to force one or the other

I'll keep looking but if you guys having issues could try this out and see if there is a workaround that would be awesome.

Cheers

Were any of the utilities any help?

Darn. Hoped the new update might provide a miracle and this issue would be magically fixed (more so I could get Husky here instead of waiting on the iPad). No luck!

:( There were some changes in there that I had hoped would do the trick, culled from places where people were having lighting issues with OSX drivers.

I'll try and find time to experiment with some other possibilities. It's been insanely hectic recently.

I understand completely - I'd rather see you working in BA2 for iPad than this!!

I've not been working on BA recently. But perhaps you guys can sign up for the beta on the next expansion and we can try some things out?

Cheers

As I said before I'm not having this issue on my MacBookAir and MacBookPro, so I can't test it, as a suggestion to Ranger, have you tried if some of the parameters of the Display preferences makes any improvement?.

In the Display tab I have checked "Best for built-in", I tried also "scaled" but BA work ok also.
In "Color" I've selected "Color LCD", to see all other options you must uncheck the checbox "Show profiles for this display only".
