A New "old school wargame" graphic mod

Post by damstabongo »

Hello,

I have made a mod for this game to looks like an old style paper wargame (a little bit like "World in Flame").
I think that it's better to have classical counters, and i have made more accurate (historic ?) icons for each country.
I have done new pictures for unit description screen and purchase screen too.

You can download this mod here : http://christiansanti.free.fr/images/unit.rar

When downloaded, you just have to decompress the files in the image/unit folder of your game
(Attention, don't forget to backup the original files if you want to go back. personnaly, i just backup the whole image folder, it's easier)

feel you free to express your opinion or suggestions here. It will make me happy.

I have post this in the modder corner section but it require registration to enter there, that's why i crosspost to the general discussion section.

I am working on a second mod on the third world war (more complex because it is not just graphics but game structure too to modify...). I'll post it here when it will be ready and the beta in the modder's corner.

I liked the look of it, will give it a try later and see how it looks in use.

Great idea, one question though, why the white background under some units' icons? wouldn't it be possible to make it transparent or just recolour it?

Hello,

There is a white background on some unit's icons :

1 - because whit it the drawing of the vehicle inside is more visible

2 - to symbolize the fact that these units are "mobile" (armor or mechanized one). You can simply see what units can exploit movement (that's good for blietzkrieg penetration).

I try to make icons without square but i thought they wasn't enough visible. If you really want i can try to remake it with transparent background.
