once a unit has three heroes

Post by endur »

If you are playing a campaign and you have a unit with three heroes, do you continue to throw that hero into the fray, or keep the hero out to let other units get kills, or ?

The advantage of throwing the hero into the fray is that the three hero unit is presumably among the best units you have, so winning the battle should be easier.

The disadvantage is that you are not growing your other units in strength if the three hero unit gets the kills.

On the other hand, though, if you retire the three hero unit and only bring it back for the last battle, then you aren't getting much benefit from the three heroes.

I use the best units to soften those really hard to crack enemy units and then the less experienced ones are used for the kill. Usually when they attack afterwards, they're getting 0 - 4 odds and that's easy experience for them without losses.

My units don't often get many heroes / exps. I prefer to just use steam-roll tactics involving rocket-launchers and Tiger IIs in massive amounts. (A flamethrower and gas shell strategy works better in WWI than anything else except for tanks in 1918)
