GS 3.0 - Am I good to go?

Post by tsnouffer »

I haven't played CEaW for awhile but GS 3.0 got me intrigued. Honestly, the upgrade path to GS 3.0 has me a bit confused. I installed GS 3.0 today and it seemed to run fine, but as I read the requirements something didn't seem right.

Here's some evidence:

It seems to be saying that I am running CEaW 1.12 but GS 3.0 is working.

Am I misunderstanding the way this is supposed to upgrade? Or should I stop worrying and enjoy GS 3.0 as it appears to be working?

Thanks

Yes. you are running version 3.00 . The lower corner that reads CEAW 1.12 GS v3.00 means you are running the expansion from 1.12 GS v3.00

The basis for the expansion came from v1.12 . The game needs some resources from v1.12 to run properly.

I purchased the game on the deal of the month.

Yes the version is correct however when you click check for updates it comes back with an error message and that it is unable to verify current version.

This isn't a problem now but will be when a new updated version does come out. So my question is will I be able to update when the time comes through Matrix or Slitherine? I have always liked the check for update feature that installs with the game so it would be nice if it worked properly. btw on another thread someone else posted that they have the same problem.

Hi Lacresta,

I have experienced this problem with both 'World in Flames' and 'Lock 'n' Load: Heroes of Stalingrad', but I have always been able to update all Matrix/Slitherine titles directly through the Matrix website.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Richard, that's what I was hoping for.

Now if I could figure out why in my games against the Axis AI it always locks up during the July 1942 AI turn (seems to be convoy phase) I will be able to actually finish a game.

Thanks again, the version question has been posted on both the Slitherine and Matrix blogs in a few spots for quite awhile with no answer.

This should help, Lacresta. There is a subject (under the Topics heading) called:

Updated game.class to prevent game hang against AI

It is on the 3rd page of 'Topics', and contains an attached file that should fix the A.I. problem. :)

Thanks I will see if I can figure out how to do the download. :)

Oh well may try later, can't seem to be able to open/unzip file - probably something simple that I just can't figure out.
