How to Partake in the Public Beta?

But the download of 1.4.2 won't start.

I figure since the game was not originally released on steam there might be another way. Like doing something in the launcher (like in the Battle.net-launcher from blizzard) but I can't figure it out.

Edit: Shouldn't there be some sticky explaining the procedure? How did other people manage to do that?

The procedure for the non-Steam version is to execute the PandoraUpdater in the Binaries directory of the game. It will tell you the game is up to date. In the upper left of that window there is a combobox that allows you to select "Beta". It will then say there is an update available. Install it and you are running the Beta.

Hi Xilmi, we're currently looking into how to best update the Steam beta version. Since there will happen quite a few updates over the next weeks and I want our Steam players to participate, the update publishing process should be nice and easy.

Right now I can no longer even select the Beta-Version in steam. Let alone that it updates anything.
I'd also really want to participate.
I hope you find a good way for that.
I wish to help as good as I can with improving AI by finding the best strategy-score-values and maybe even describe algorithms to determine other stuff, that could be improved.

Changed to PUBLIC BETA in Steam, but still Version 1.4.1

We can now publish directly to Steam, so from now on the Steam Beta should be in sync with the standalone Beta.

Any estimate as to when this will show up in the Steam beta window? Currently my "Select the beta you would like to opt into:" drop down only shows "NONE - Opt out of all beta programs".

That sounds very weird, that should have been showing up for everyone since the Steam release; you're the first one I hear of that doesn't see it.

Anyone else having this issue?
