State of the game

Post by morvael »

My observations after a few games:
- graphics are top notch, presentation of information superb
- rules are well designed, taking many factors into account even for such simple game
- supply doesn't work as expected (I win BotB scenario by having a cut-off panzer on the other side of the river, units in areas touching only by corner to friendly supply grid stay supplied - all this despite the supply overlay showing those areas "in red")
- AI is not that fine (I won my first game against it, and have been winning since, either as Axis or Allied side, against both types of the AI) - sometimes it passes to much, highlights a unit in the same space and then passes the turn for entire day
- some charts in Help section look like poor quality scans

Anyway, I'm glad I have supported the game on Kickstarter! It has a lot of potential to be my favourite light wargame. I'm sure the GameCenter experience against dedicated players (friends from real life) will work well, even if the AI will be lacking.

I have enjoyed the game since release but I feel that a continuation options to allow players to extend play to December 28th is needed. I know this has been mentioned before but I feel it is important to the replay ability of the game. Maybe (this isn't original) you can have different degrees of victory. First stop of game for points might be a Minor Victory all the way up to Total Victory with a few more levels in between. The continue option should be available to the loser to continue also so to give that player a chance to turn it around. I know almost nothing about programming but I should think this would be an easy fix to add more value to a fine game.

A third scenario could be added, with Germans on the defensive. Two scenarios is very little. A scenario editor (and perhaps a random scenario generator) would be nice as well.

That is a bug, which should be fixed in the next release.
