Suggestions for AI improvement

Post by blahblah3502 »

Been noticing playing vs Kesselring ( quick
Axis AI) in both the ridge scenario and the campaign game that in Early turns it likes prioritizing attacking
the CW 9 Ind unit in Naqh Abu Dweis over pulling out vulnerable units from earlier attack.
So e.g. AI will launch risky attack with mobile infantry in El Alamein (too risky for my taste but OK). If the inf units get clobbered but don't retreat - ok, AI still has a chance to pull them out first thing next time.. but if it hasn't defeated 9 Inf in NAD already... no, AI now always seems to be choosing to try and dislodge 9 Inf from NAD as first impulse priority .

follow up: on further play, I think the Kesselring favoured attack with 2x 2 point mobile inf units in El Alamein as its very first move is a bit dumb. I'm also hoping for more start move variation... ( also a problem in Drive to Moscow as I recall, bit that opening move was a good one )

Thanks for the feedback,

I've also never been particularly happy with opening gambit into El Al, but hurting those mines is such a tasty proposition. Especially since the fall of El AL gets rid of CW Artillery that effects combat in the spaces surrounding El Al. You should try out the "Unknown" General, his play isn't as risky, and while he takes more into account than Kesselring, he isn't much slower.

I have noted that the AI Desert Air Force often targets the Italian infantry, which only moves one space anyway. Better to target armor or motorized infantry.
Please note that I'm not employed by Artistocrats or Slitherine.
