Choosing pilots - some not available?

Hi all,

I wonder why I sometime cannot choose my favorite astronauts for a mission. Right now I want to launch "Automated docking with crew transfer (duration level I) (SOYUZ 7K-OK (Earth orbit))". It says that seven astronauts are needed, six as a flight crew. Why can't I choose the one who won't be on board?

Sorry, you lost me a bit. What do you mean when you say you can't choose who goes on board? The game allows you to select any available employee when filling the roles for the Mission Control room and the spacecraft, is there anything I am missing?

Hello dergilb,

The cosmonaut you would like to have as the Commander is unavailable because you have already assigned her to the CAPCOM position in Mission Control. If you want her to be the Commander instead, use the 'Best Fit' option in Mission Control, then unassign the cosmonaut assigned to the CAPCOM position and reassign someone else.
