[BUG] rev 1042 [MP] Multiplayer problems
I have three problems with multiplayer. I installed the new FOG version today and have issued a few DAG challenges with created lists which were accepted. I also accepted a posted challenge for a scenario game.
The first problem is that it is now my turn in the two games I posted but when I press the play button nothings happens. The button indicates it has been pressed but that is all.
The second problem is I tried to accept a second game and got the error message below. As I have only accepted one challenge I assume this is a bug.
Error: Could not accept the challenge#50640
Too many Challenges accepted today
The third problem is although I have been able to play the scenario game I accepted I cannot message my opponent.
Please help!
Martin

Re: [BUG] rev 1042 [MP] Multiplayer problems
Please read the [NFO] Bug reports, Feedback & Requests thread before posting.
For the first problem, I need you to give me the MP Instance's number, and I also need you to delete both console_log.txt and output_log.txt files, start the app, go to MP select that MP Instance game and press Play then close the application and attach in here an archive containing both console_log.txt and output_log.txt newly created files, please.
The second problem has nothing to do with FoG(U), but it's related with the PBEM++ server's number of maximum MP instances in a day define. I think it's the same number for all the MP instances you've created, no matter from which game (as all the Slitherine MP games are using the same PBEM++ server).

Thanks for explanation on Problem 2.
I can't find the files you refer to for Problem 1. Where do I find these files?

Re: [BUG] rev 1042 [MP] Multiplayer problems
I have the same problem. Two games on the go. The first one were 600 point made up armies, the second a 400 point army chosen from the list. Both being played by PBEM. The first one 600 point Later Scots v English came through to me from my oppenent, but when I click on the game and press play nothing happens. The 400 point game chosen from the pre-generated armies seems to be playing fine at present although the skip phase logo on the screen doe's not seem to be activated as it's ghosted out on the screen!
Keep up the good work, I'm sure it's appreciated by all.

Both files can be found in the <FoG(U)_install_folder>/FoG_Unity_Data/output_log.txt and console_log.txtCunningcairn wrote:Thanks for explanation on Problem 2.

Re: [BUG] rev 1042 [MP] Multiplayer problems
OK I've found the files but I'm unsure how you want me to present them to you? The problem is now also occurring with a number of new games I have accepted and posted.
Re: [BUG] rev 1042 [MP] Multiplayer problems
Put them in a .zip archive, and attach them in a post in here. Or send them via email to me (at dan dot antonescu at newrosoft dot com).
Re: [BUG] rev 1042 [MP] Multiplayer problems
Update (1): I've started to investigate this problem, and it seems to be related with using custom made DAG armies. As soon as I'll succeed to reproduce it, I'll give more details and an estimate regarding how long until it gets fixed.

Re: [BUG] rev 1042 [MP] Multiplayer problems
I have just accepted a challenge for custom DAG game and have same problem, PLAY button doesn't react.
Re: [BUG] rev 1042 [MP] Multiplayer problems
Hi, there seems to be a messaging capability 'in game'. It's tucked away in the slide-box on the right of the screen. Don't know how it'll work in practise because I haven't had a reply from anybody yet!
So, we just play with the 400 point armies until we hear the problem's fixed?

Re: [BUG] rev 1042 [MP] Multiplayer problems
I'm working on finding out what is happening in there. Until I'll find out, and fix it, you should skip using custom DAG armies games.
Re: [BUG] rev 1042 [MP] Multiplayer problems
Update (2): the problem doesn't seem to be related with using a custom DAG army list file (as the beginning of the investigation seems to suggest), but rather with using any DAG army list file having more than 1 active nation.
Re: [BUG] rev 1042 [MP] Multiplayer problems
FoG(U) contains indeed a full team based chat (ie you can send messages to anyone playing the game, or only to your side's team).Jakdaw wrote:Hi, there seems to be a messaging capability 'in game'. Don't know if this is the right place to post this, but, there seems to be an omission on the DAG challenge page, in as much as there are no options for FoW or double moves as there are on the scenario challenge page, I'm assuming this is a bug?

Re: [BUG] rev 1042 [MP] Multiplayer problems
Sorry, but all this stuff about console logs and zip files is way too complicated for me. If I find a problem (I have found 22 today) surely it is enough to just report it so at least you know what is happening? If I spend time trying to help improve the game then I feel I have done my bit but if I have to waste extra hours (literally) fiddling about with text files and zip codes or whatever I am going to end up topping myself!cothyso wrote:Please read the [NFO] Bug reports, Feedback & Requests thread before posting.

Re: [BUG] rev 1042 [MP] Multiplayer problems
I don't mind supplying the files if you want them but as Pete has just said new problems are appearing all the time. I cannot keep on sending files for every problem. How do you want us to report bugs and also requests for change?stockwellpete wrote:Sorry, but all this stuff about console logs and zip files is way too complicated for me. Re: [BUG] rev 1042 [MP] Multiplayer problems
Thanks. Please don't take criticism regarding the new version personally. You have done a good job and there were always going to be problems with what has been attempted even with a team of developers let alone one man. Keep up the good work.cothyso wrote:Update (2): the problem doesn't seem to be related with using a custom DAG army list file (as the beginning of the investigation seems to suggest), but rather with using any DAG army list file having more than 1 active nation.

Re: [BUG] rev 1042 [MP] Multiplayer problems
Playing a game with PaulMcNeil - Vikings v Normans I completed my first turn as the Normans and pressed "End Turn" - got an error message "Could not upload instance #45468 data serverfailed to write file CRC32 check failed. I then had to use Task Manager to actually get out of the screen. Now the game is sitting in My Turn screen. When I click on it I get an empty map with the word Replay in the left hand corner. what on earth is happening here?

Re: [BUG] rev 1042 [MP] Multiplayer problems
Here's an interesting one, I have a replay that freezes, and having played it back a number of times, it appears that it does this after an enemy unit attacks one of mine, but instead of attacking it moves onto the same hex, disappears, but the base of the unit turns from red to a red and green circle as if they've been overlaid. The replay then refuses to progress beyond that point.
