Order of Battle v. 2.6.7 Patch!

Post by AlbertoC »

With Winter War coming out tomorrow the developers are really busy preparing the ground for it!

We are releasing a new patch for Order of Battle, including so many additions, balance changes and gameplay fixes. We hope you’ll enjoy it!

Important note: with this patch you’ll be able to play the first mission of the new DLC, Winter War. The DLC will be available starting from tomorrow, July 21st.

You can download the patch here

Here’s the full changelog:

Gameplay:
• Major rebalancing of all ground units, mostly focused on tank vs tank performance in anticipation for European tank clashes.
• Artillery now deals less damage against low-strength targets, making them less effective at "sniping kills" from long range.
• Paratroopers have "supply stash" which delays the out-of-supply effects for a number of turns.
• Paratroopers have "Quick Entrench" trait, allowing to to dig in faster than normal units.
• Units with "Light Freight" trait can disembark from a train on open hexes.
• Units with "Heavy Treaded" trait suffer double terrain disruption penalties from moving through difficult terrain.

Multiplayer:
• 2 new maps added: Winter War based "Arctic Fox" and Morning Sun based "Double Dragons" cooperative map, playable as the Chinese.

Bug fixes:
• Some black screen on start-up issues fixed.
• Campaign end screen fixed (no longer displays nonexistent scenario location).
• Disband button and tooltip display fixed when it is unavailable.
• Switch from Strategic Map fixed when using 2D tactical map display.
• Bonus Zundapp Motorcycle unit for owners of Heroes of Normandie game fixed.

Editor:
• Dozens of new Soviet, German and Finnish units available.
• Objectives can be changed (added and/or removed) in the middle of a scenario.
• Popup dialog can be called to offer the player unique tactical, strategic or political choices during a scenario.
• 'AI Team Split" trigger effect can move units from one team to another split based on their strength. This can - for example - be used to split damaged AI units to a different team and retreat them to the rear.

Did you add the cheat code to unlock all scenarios in once? If so, what is the code?

Once again the information from Slitherine only manages to confuse the buyer. So here are my questions that I would like answered before I waste any more time attempting to understand what you are really offering: Is the DLC offered on the purchasing webpage on this website the COMPLETE package of software needed to install and play 'Winter War''?
The purchasing webpage does not indicate that the v2.6.7 patch is included or if the patch is includes in both PC and MAC versions of the DLC.
Your link under this thread to the V2.6.7 patch is only for the PC patch.

Please let me know, as I suspect, that all one needs to do to get the Winter War DLC for both PC and MAC is to buy it via the purchasing webpage and to ignore the link to the PC patch listed on this thread.

As I mentioned in another thread, they should give explicit instructions on the DLC product page as to what is needed, especially for noobs. From what I could piece together, and what I remembered from past DLC, one needs to patch up to the latest version available (V. 2.6.7) to load Winter War. The patch itself contains Winter War, (new maps, units, etc.) and all the DLC does is unlock it. I noted in that other thread that although the Winter War DLC file is tagged as V. 2.5.0, it will load in V. 2.6.7 and not reset the game version backward. Again, as far as I can tell, the WW DLC (and the WW game key, of course) merely unlock what is already in the game, once it's patched.

Hi - I've paid for the Mac "Winter War" expansion, but the zip download of the update allowing me to install it only seems to contain an .exe file. Would you be able to provide link to the .dmg zip please.

What you neglected to do, I bet, is to click the red MAC button on the order page. It's on PC by default and it's easy to miss:

What you need to do now is to contact Matrix Games at either storesupport@matrixgames.com or http://www.matrixgames.com/support/ as shown in your receipt.

Now I have a question, if I may. I seem to have downloaded that 2.6.7 patch file a bit early, since I ended up with version 2.6.7b. Only by seeing somebody refer to the patch as 2.6.7c, and then noticing my downloaded file was dated July 20 (it must have been really early on your July 21 when "b" was made available; the difference in time date is due to several time zones), did I think to check as to what I had installed. It was "b" all right. I have since corrected the problem and now have version 2.6.7c. So I'm curious. What evil have I narrowly avoided?

No...I bought the correct one. I just now found the proper link though. It's the part of the convoluted download / update mechanism Slitherine has...though I'll admit it's much better than it used to be. Whatever happened to a check for updates and download as part of the software itself??

The download link from the purchase email just linked to a raw text page (which I confess I didn't read fully as the link is hidden in it but isn't highlighted nor hypertext). As a result I downloaded from the link supplied below (which at no point that I can see, specifies that it's PC only).

I had 2.6.7b installed (with Winter War), clicked the update button on the game menu and was told there was a newer version (2.6.7c, I guessed).
Ran the updater, then got a message that I already had a version newer than 2.6.7c (?). Got the option to reinstall 2.6.7c. Slightly confusing...

What puzzled me is that the installer also stated that "...if your original installer was created after this update installer, your serial number may not work with this update"
I clicked yes to update anyway, figuring I could always reinstall from scratch.
The update went fine and is now at 2.6.7c.

You guys have the shittyest website I've ever had to deal with.

Now that "ve gotten that out of the way. I'm trying to download the 2.67 patch by clicking on the link mentioned earlier in this thread. I would use the "check for updates" button that comes with the game but I always get an error when using it. Solid programming.

When I try to download it directly from the link in this email it takes me to another login screen, eventhought I am already logged into this site. I can't get past that login. No record of me, but if I try to create one, it says I already exist.

Is this the best you can do?

If I try to send an email to the support at matrixgames, it wants me to set up a whole new email system on my computer.

I was going to buy Winter War but fuck it . I wouldn't buy it now if you paid me. I just wanted to bring the patch situation up to date before I bought Winter War.

Why do I have to log on a second time to get a fucking patch to a game I own.

I was a beta tester for Morning Sun and I have to say you guys seem like a backwards company.

I quite agree on the language, but the fellow has a point about how it's a bit convoluted as to how this game is managed, including getting this patch. I made this suggestion in another thread:
bru888 wrote:Just a suggestion. You want noobs to have an easy time of things.

If I remember correctly, when I downloaded Winter War and went to click on it, it told me that I needed version 2.5.0 of the game (which I don't think was ever officially released). Then, when I "clicked here," it took me to the WWII game page where you can only download 2.4.8 which I already had.

If you look at the Slitherine page for Winter War, nowhere on there does it specify that you need: 1) World War II basic game, and 2) the latest 2.6.7 patch. Look for yourselves and see if I am wrong: http://www.slitherine.com/products/prod ... atformID=1

Apparently, as long as the patched game version number exceeds the DLC version, then you are fine; Winter War 2.5.0 loads just fine once the game is patched to 2.6.7 and, of course, the DLC does not reset the game version back to 2.5.0.

All of which is not going to be known to new customers unless you spell it out on the product page. Even this "experienced" player (yeah, right) had to stop and figure it out.

If Slitherine asks me to remove it, I will of course do so.
You can remove it, Erik.
I've added some mirrors for the patch.
