Hi there,
just downloaded the game on STEAM and am trying to get into the mechanics. On the first view the planes (i.e. Spitfire or Bf-109) are well represented, but what about the pilots. They are Ace or Green pilots, but strangers without Name. Didn't you advertise: It's the man, not the Machine (Chuck Yeager)?
So, how do I choose (pre-defined?) named Pilots for my planes, or am I able to give them a custom Name?
Greetings from Germany,
Nils

Re: Named or naming Pilots
Individual pilots that you can maybe build up would have done the game very well. An (emotional) connection to your
crew would have increased tension and playability.
We would then have ‚man and machine’ as well as in BATTLETECH.
Incidentally, BATTLETECH is also a conversion of a board game, but this is much better realized.
Pure 1:1 board conversions on the PC are rarely fun.

I think that Molders, Galland or Wick would be good for 1940.
Lock, Bader, Carbury or Malan from RAF
We shouldn't forget about Polish and Czechoslovakian aces, too.
It's a very good idea but it would be great if statistics were introduced

There is potential in the game, but it seems the developer don't want or don't can, or maybe they don't care.

I tried it and then never played it again. Disappointed

Below my conception for improving the game, which I wrote during Beta-tests.
No one answer.
My proposals for improving the game

I think that after playing the first few scn I have a general view on the game.
There are 5 things I would like to introduce.
1. Units carry-over between missions
2. The Air Shop, where Player can buy units ("green" units)
3. Acquiring experience by pilots/crew, gaining experience levels
4. Introduction of statistics - number of shoot downs/damaged planes for fighter's pilots, amount of destroyed objects for bomber crew, number of missions for bomber crew and fighter's pilots
5. The level of the veteran could be achieved by participating in missions, the ace level could be reached only by a fighter's pilot who shot down a total of 5 enemy aircraft (damage = 1/4 shoot down, heavy damage = 1/2 shoot down) or only by a bomber crew which destroyed at least 3 objects (damaged = 1/2 of destroying).
Team victories: if several fighters shoot at destroyed plane, then everyone win partial victory (1/2), if the plane was only damaged, then those who caused damage score only.
When exchanging/improving airplanes for another (newer) model, it would cause to lower the level of experience by -1, only the aces would maintain their status.
An outstanding ace (or ace crew) who has achieved more shoot downs or destroyed objects could receive additional bonuses for the following achievements.
The game has potential, but these changes would make it an outstanding game.
If it is too late to make these changes, then maybe in the next parts of the game.

The longer I play, the more I think my proposals are perfect for this game.
I think the player should manage Hurricanes or Spitfires squadron, up to 16 aircraft.
In some missions he would receive additional support from other fighters or bombers, which should be escorted.
Prior to each mission, the player's points/units limit (like in the Flames of War) would be determined, so the player would be forced to choose whether to take 2 aces and 4 "green" pilots, or maybe 5 veterans and 3 "green" ones or someting like that.
I miss the units purchasing, the development of pilot's experience level, pilot's statistics and management of the team in this game.
It would give the game a completely different dimension.
LET"S CREATE A TOTAL GAME
