Elevation display glitch

Weird issue in mine and Morbio's multiplayer match. Halfway through the game the map seems to have flattened with elevation no longer being correctly displayed. It has started displaying like this for both me and him on this round and the subsequent.

Sounds like the game save file has become corrupted. If you contact support@slitherine.co.uk they might be able to roll the game back, though if you have played on for several turns that might not be possible.

It is not clear to me from the screenshot whether it is only the tooltip that is affected, or whether the 3D representation of the hills is also missing?

Also, if you turn on the detailed tooltips and/or combat log, does elevation seem to be being taken into account in close combats?

Really? How many of your games has this happened to?

I don't have access to the MP game save files, or any details of their format, so I will have to ask Pip if he can think of any reason why this might happen.

Is either of you running the game on a PC emulator on Mac or Linux?

I'm using a standard Windows 10 PC.

I can't say exactly how many times this has happened, but I did report it earlier when I was having problems with my PC after a windows update. At the time the error was assumed to be due to graphics card issues I was having (nVidia) which were ultimately resolved by reinstalling drivers. I'm not aware of any issues with my graphics card, or PC, or game crashes or upload issues other than this issue. I'll try to keep an eye open for this with other games.

OK, it's happened again and it does seem to affect combat results. The screenshot shows my lancers attacking other lancers and I would expect to get a bonus for higher ground, but I don't seem to get it.

I don't know, my opponents would have to answer that. I have another more recent example if you would like it. My opponent has confirmed that this is an issue for them too.

Could you ask them please? It is an important piece of information to help us track down the cause of the issue.

Could you also ask them if they are having the same issue against opponents other than yourself?

OK, will do. I appreciate the help you are giving here.

I suspect that, on the basis that no one other than those playing me has raised this issue, my equipment is going to be a root cause factor. However, unless others who may be having issues decide to contribute we are unlikely to know, unless there is something in the file that is uploaded/downloaded to the server that can be identified and searched for centrally.

I can probably tell you which of my games have had the problem and I can send you any files or information you need from my PC to help. I can tell you that I haven't downloaded any custom scenarios or any mods, I'm a vanilla player.

I asked my opponent for his details, but he didn't answer and then the game ended

It's just happened again on my latest game (see image). My line was holding well until the height disappeared and then my line collapsed.

This is ruining the game and makes it unplayable I've asked my opponent for his/her details and asked him to post here, hopefully we will get more information.

Is there any trace you can run on the server or I can install and run?

Sorry Morbio for this late reply, I seem to get easily distracted and keep forgetting to post this.
I was the player fighting against Morbio in his above screen shots.
I currenlty use windows 10

I am pretty sure the different elevation levels were there at the beginning of the battle, but disappeared around 3/4 way into the battle.

Is there any way to tell in your game when the height vanished? Was it:

+ at the start of a Morbio turn (after he downloaded it)
+ at the start of a turn for the opponent
+ sometime during the battle that the terrain flattened

Knowing this might help us - the fact there were multiple opponents makes it unlikely that the issue is caused when being saved from the opponent machine.
