Encircled

Post by Dorky8 »

Can someone explain the parameters of encircled troops?

I'm getting troops encircled when they have allies next to them and a clear line of supply behind them.

A unit blocks supply in all the hexes it touches. Always. A chain of your own units does not provide supply.

Friendly units do not negate EZOCs unless you have the perk that does this.

I find this to be an excellent addition to the game, it adds much more realism and complexity. Battle plans need much more thought and planning.

I like the addition but not sure it is working as it should. Sometimes my encircled units seem stuck in place while the AI is able to move out of it. Also either not much other penalty for the AI being encircled it seems they keep strength and even are able to add reinforcements when they are.

Interesting, it is what I expected was supposed to happen, but just don't think it is what always happens.

Interesting is that enemy units receive supply from borders of the mission map. Capturing of all supply points on the mission map don,t make all enemies to lost supply. In many mission it is imposible to surround large group of enemies because you don,t have enough units or enemy unit are group very close to border of mission map. For instance: Moscow - syberian reinforcment are too close to east side of the map to surround them before trigger happend.

Excellent point. I'm playing Tobruck and my opponent had a recon WAY behind enemy lines and I was wondering how he was moving and resupplying. I guess its because there was a path to the border, this obviously needs to change.

The border should only be a supply route if you have a supply route (horizontal or vertical) on the map.

Be careful what you might wish for. Our units get supplied by the border too

Valid point but obviously units WAY behind enemy lines, with no cities captured, shouldn't get supply by all 4 borders. I hope you agree with that.

If you want to deal with someone behind your lines, you need to actually use units. That's fine by me. Making encirclement easier wouldn't help the game.

Its supply from all 4 corners when obviously out of supply of the map not encirclement. Read the other post. If you think its realistic that units obviously way out of supply get supply from all 4 borders good for you.
