Seems like a redownload of the installers and full reinstallation of the game fixed the problems. I will check further and report back if the problem reappears but so far it seems to resolved.

As far i know if you do not patch at all to higher version then you won't get the super heroes. If you do apply the patch but chose 1.14 rules under the advanced tab then you will receive them.

You do not need and can't apply normal patches to the Steam game version. Steam is keeping your game automatically up to date (unless you have manually disabled this option in the steam client). Can you double-check the version number on the main menu, just to be sure you are running the correct EXE. I'm sure you were, but just to check (and to hold on to hope for a moment longer...). What the new EXE does is, game process is essentially Steam free (with no DLLs loaded into it etc.), and all communication with Steam is handled by a separate background process. Well i seems to managed to get to the slowdowns now as well. Starting with the Spoils of War scenario in GC39 i need to play just a bit longer then one scenario for it to happen. At least i have the option to play Steam free but i really hope for you guys without this option, this get fixed soon.
