Re: AI at higher difficulties, kinda weak?

"The game is specifically designed to treat AI and players equally" Well that just bad game design. Also if it was true there would only be one difficulty. "The AI is never going to rack up 5000 Legacy points in 100 turns. But as the player you can do that through min-maxing culture output." Turn 1...

Re: Palace Guards are too powerful

Are palace guards clumsy? If not, they probably should be, so that they're not so dominant in this situation- they should still be formidable siege defenders.

Re: Is there any way to give or return territory to allies?

I think being able to set territory back to unowned is probably the best way to go here as it eliminates exploits involving giving territory to AI nations to make them collapse.

Re: Sieges

Ok...but what's "besieger infantry" ? Any Inf will do ? Elephants can help ? But I think it'll be cool and historical to be able to build siege engines in addition. They'll have the besieged ability which looks like a siege tower on their unit card. Hold ctrl while mousing over the unit for more de...

Re: Sieges

For most countries, you need medium infantry to do sieges. Rome's heavies have a siege value, and everyone's heavy infantry gains siege value when it gets reformed, but that can take a while.

BTW, Rhodes is even harder than Syracuse. I have no idea how you take Rhodes without Roman units.

Yup, I got both the reforms to come out after a bit, and then my country descended into multiple civil wars.

Unable to switch to emerging faction

Whenever I go to switch factions in 'options', i am unable to switch to factions that weren't there at the very beginning of the game- for example, Persia showed up and I can't switch to it.

I hope to see the US+German army box expansions to add some new types of platoons to buy, too!

Re: best and worst army

I think Weimar is a little bit underrated because of all their LG-equipped pike and shot units with no firepower penalty. They can really shoot it out. Having that advantage at long range can help against pesky hadjuks.

Re: Question about Tercios

I ran a scenario where I took an early tercio against three normal pike and shot units. What I found is that the tercio almost always got disrupted before making contact. The residual fire was key. Occasionally after a volley at 2 range the tercio would get fragmented. Remember to have your other pi...

Re: Question about Tercios

Tercios in this game are considerably more expensive than later tercios and pike and shot units because they have twice as many men as a late tercio and four times as many as a pike and shot unit. You lose a lot of maneuver elements and overall firepower this way. You need to have artillery to help ...

Re: 17th Century Infantry reacting to Cavalry

The need to begin a turn in the flank/rear of a unit(which gives a p&s unit time to react) I think gives them more than enough flexibility to avoid a flank charge by turning to face the flanker.

Re: Any Tutorial 4 Tips

The tutorial is all about using your skirmishers effectively to overcome the enemy forces. Any tips? I assume its best to keep the Detatched Musketeers in the woods and snipe at the enemy formations, but what to do with the Hussars escorting the Boyars? They tend to get charged down by the enemy Ku...

Re: Enjoying the game but...

In this game "charge" is highly abstract, off course it would make no sense for infantry to charge uncommitted cavalry because they have more mobility and could avoid it, We are specifically talking about cavalry locked in combat with infantry on their flanks, on their rear or both. cavalry heavily...

It's definitely possible. It would not be terribly difficult to make the units, either. The graphics editing would be the hardest part.

Re: Enjoying the game but...

I'm unfamiliar with the work "Keil", is it explained in the manual somewhere? Is it just a pike wall? Yeah, it's in the manual. Keil refers in game terms to a unit with around 350 pikemen which gives a POA bonus in melee equivalent to the ratio of pikes to musketeers in a unit. There are a couple o...

Re: Enjoying the game but...

Units with a Keil bonus that have enough men to keep it after getting shot are expensive in the TYW era.
