Re: How long should an install take?
Just replying to myself. I checked in My Games and there is a different download file in there from what I originally had. When I purchased the game the download file was called 'CommanderEuropeAtWarGrandStrategy-SetupRelease-300'. I just checked my games list and the download file is now ''Commande...

How long should an install take?
I bought CEAW Gold and downloaded the GS4.0 update. I have been trying to install the game for TWO HOURS and it is still only at about 80%. I am on WIndows 10 so I don't know if the installer isn't optimised for that OS but seriously, should it take anywhere near this long to install the game? This ...

Re: GS 4.0 only for Multi Player?
Thanks for the replies, I know the AI is terribly flawed in certain situations but I think I will give the GS Mod a go over xmas in lieu of getting any 'new' games...

GS 4.0 only for Multi Player?
I have CEAW Gold and just play the standard 1.12 version against the AI because I read that the Grand Strategy mod is really only for multiplayer. Having got a bit bored with the vanilla game is it worth installing GS4.0 and trying to play it solo or is it really unplayable v AI?

What does an Aircraft Carrier Strength Point Represent?
If it has no combat value then obviously the strength points don't relate to the chance of doing damage to the attacker and as far as I can tell reducing a carriers strength has no effect on its ability to resupply aircraft. Its a bit sad if all it means is 'a 10 strength carrier takes longer to sin...

I played Theatre Europe on a Spectrum128 - did the C64 version have the phone number you had to call to get the code number for Operation Warm Puppy?Shrike wrote:Leaving out Space Invaders, I'd have to say Theatre Europe on C64.

Its good to lose..sometimes
Just played two consecutive scenarios really badly and got dismissed, serves me right for being too cocky and also taught me some gameplay lessons as well. The scenarios are the supposed 'mopping up' French maps at Reims and Dijon in GC'40. Expecting minimal resistance I just spread my forces out to...

Re: Aircraft Spotting Range
I understand an increased spotting range making a mockery of Fog of War but experienced players make a mockery of it any way by knowing where the AI units are after playing a map a few times. Maybe for multi player it would be a gamebreaker but in the early war years at least it would give fighters ...

Aircraft Spotting Range
Although I have played Panzercorps for over a year it just struck me that surely Fighters/Bombers should have more than a two hex spotting range? I'm sure this has been argued about before, but if an AT unit behind a hill can 'see' two hexes away shouldn't an aircraft cover at least 6 hexes?

Re: How much prestige does the AI have?
Too much in some cases. The amount of JS 1 in the battle for Kiev 1943 is outright crazy - I counted more than 17 last time I played. And the amount is preset and in no way influenced by player progress. Same as in PG, difference - in PG your performance had an impact on the overall war development...

Re: The Hague Scenario in GC'40
Thanks for all the replies, in the end I didn't get anywhere near The Hague anyway but secured sufficient objectives for a MV. One humorous point was that I airdropped one of the Auxiliary Paras at the rightmost edge of the map, marched them across a bridge and picked off an armoured unit and two in...

How much prestige does the AI have?
I was just wondering if the AI always gets a set amount of prestige at the start of a scenario which is unaffected by the results of any previous battles? Considering the seemingly endless flow of replacement units for the Soviets after 1941 on the East Front is it actually just a question of script...

The Hague Scenario in GC'40
Absolutely loving the Grand Campaign, even though I'm not very good I am learning all the time just by playing and resisting the temptation to just reload after a poor (marginal) performance. This is my first time through The Hague scenario and after half a dozen turns it appeared to me that there w...

War in the East is an excellent game. After PzC, War in the east is my favorite. The only problem is 300+ manual  . It's far to complicated for my old brain. I bought it but never really understood or enjoyed it. I don't want to rag on something thats off topic, but seriously, how much time ...

Zoom keys on laptop?
I don't use a mouse with the game and the Pg Up / Pg Dn keys don't work for zooming in or out on my laptop. If anyone plays on a laptop can they tell me how they got the zoom function to work?

Nice report, both times I played this scenario those units at Kalamata were there as well, historically thats where the Commonwealth forces were evacuated to Crete from so thats why its a victory hex in the game, but its very very hard to crack within the time allotted. In the scenario what you got ...

Oh, good grief, you are right about the railway - I saw the track from Strumica going north off the map and somehow thought that the road that it crosses was a rail line too  Yes, I knew there was only one british air unit, first time I played I thought there were two but its just that I didn'...

Thanks for the great advice, the rail network is as you say not very effective, despite looking as if it covers a continuous loop through the central portion of the map trains only run in straight lines it seems...I had a an Artillery unit entrained in Salonika that would only go backwards and forwa...
