Impressive amount of updates, especially to scenarios, but also global bugs such a s the torpedo animation one that did come up for me a few times earlier in the Cerberus mission. Was worth the wait for sure and while I ultimately finished all my 1942 runs before this patch arrived, I'll be more than looking forward to another go one time in the future with these updates. Looks like the difficulty of a few missions got bumped up as well!

I briefly encountered this issue... but it seems to have gone away on its own accord. As with the worst kinds of issues, it is the ones that seem to work and not work at random that are the hardest to track down. Just to confirm for you, any scenario built into the game with heroes loads though heroes just fine, and user made scenarios that make use of those same hero assignment scripts do not?

Actually, it is even easier than that! They don't have to work it around a narrative. Most unique heroes you got in PC1 weren't surrounded by any special narrative. Like, if you captured Mt. Ebrus you get a special infantry hero. It doesn't even have to be a Zero Slots hero, but something fairly good and worthwhile.davida wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 9:17 amSame here. In PC1, you always got a special hero/unit regardless of which pathway you chose. They might not be the same, but you did not forgo some sort of special reward altogether.

Just played one mission from AO: I see it as massive optimization - everything is smooth and game runs like racing car. Nice job

I don't think anything was intentionally changed in this regard. All existing campaigns still rely on the same hero assignment scripts after all. We'll look into it as best we can, but it's always difficult to fix issues that we cannot easily reproduce.

I was concerned about this myself when I first read it but I went back through our PanzerCorps 1 Grand Campaign mod and did not encounter any issues with this script for heroes either new ones created or ones similar to heroes in AO.

Nothing was deliberately changed in this department, and old scripts should still work (you can see that the scripts in Axis Operations have not changed). I was able to re-produce this error by making a brand new test map from scratch.

Why this problem affects anything newly made, but doesn't seem to harm anything that's already been made... I would be very curious to know. Perhaps some update inside of the way the editor works and is initializing brand new creations? I haven't the faintest idea, but at least we can reliably make the problem appear now which is the most important first step to getting it fixed.

Not sure the access to advanced settings is working properly i have limited supply and mortal heros running but you cant access those settings between maps

Thank you for support user made campaigns outside of this community here. Hopefully you find a way, that we can play this again. We see this as a grand gesture and a unique opportunity for reconciliation with the creator, which, however, probably does not continue actively. The big problem is , that he can never finish something, the same like PC1, but his campaigns are fun for weeks.

I have a theory.
What is the difference between an established scenario and a brand new creation? Established scenarios tend to be bulked out.
The LUA files for established scenarios tend to be huge, with many extra utility functions and other things going on in them. For example Rzhev42, the very first scenario of Axis Operations 1942, has a script file that is 780 lines long.
I wonder if there is some utility function in these scenarios that is lacking in smaller/newer scenarios. Something that didn't used to be necessary for hero assignments to work, but now does require it....

I wrote just this to the original creator at FB and he answered, that he dont believe that this is an random bug, there is a long planned programming new exe to prevent all players to play his campaigns and he is never more in working interest with PC2, because a real modding is neither promoted, but cleverly eliminated.I have a theory.

I'm experiencing quite a bit of lag when loading new missions under the new patch. The briefing comes up and everything is frozen for a little while. Anyone else getting this?

It actually takes quite a bit longer to load each scenario, then the loading screen gets stuck for a while, and THEN the briefing comes up and is stuck for another little while.
