Charging out of a Gully
Had a game with a scrupulous player who knows the rules well and has a habit of digging-out obscure ones to hamper his own army. Last night he argued that troops a little away from the edge of a gully could not charge out. On the grounds that they could not see the troops they'd charge. He based thi...

Re: Generals and Ambushers
For a general to be with a BG he must be placed [/u] in edge to edge and corner to corner with it IIRC so when they appear he will have to move to be with them That's interesting. If that is the way it is played, it is good to know. But surely it could be argued that when he was put in the wood he ...

Re: Generals and Ambushers
Thanks both for your help with this. For what it is worth (because I don't know the rules well) this is what I thought too.
With thanks,
Alan

Generals and Ambushers
1. P 151 allows players to accompany ambushers with (presumably hidden) generals, provided that this is noted when ambush markers are deployed (towards the start of the set-up sequence). 2. Is it also possible to deploy a general openly with (still hidden) ambushers when other generals are deployed ...

Re: Running from Multiple Opponents
Thanks everyone who has contributed to this. The only debate has been about case 5. I included this for completeness but, as has been pointed out, it is a rarity. Does everyone who has contributed to this (or glanced over it) agree with the early posters in saying that in cases 1 to 4 the routers bi...

Re: Running from Multiple Opponents
Thanks both for your help with this. I am trying to find out how this is normally played, not put forward some tricksy interpretation. So the fact that you agree on cases 1 to 4 is encouraging. That said, I'm not altogether sure that page 106 "lumps routs from charging, shooting and close comba...

Running from Multiple Opponents
Friends who play in tournaments have come back with different views as to the direction troops who are engaged to their front and then charged in the flank should run. In all cases unit X is facing south. It has been engaged in a prolonged melee with unit A, facing north. It is then charged on its l...

Re: V2 Hardback. Poor quality, poorer customers service
They are available now Alan A bit belated, but I ordered the book. It arrived quickly, in perfect condition, nicely bound. I realise that getting the printed copy out has been troublesome and appreciate the way Slitherine has responded to its customers' requests. I can't think of many companies of ...

Re: V2 Conventional Print Runs
RE the print on demand books; we have decided to phase these out. Future stock will come from our original printers and they have worked hard with us to get minimum quantity orders through their system, it's not quite print on demand and we will need to swallow the expense and risk of carrying some...

Re: Field of Glory Ancients version 2
I don't think there is need to rush I do disagree . I know of tournaments ( outside UK ) that are NOT organised this year because of ...waiting for V2 .....so let's wait but if people switch to another rule they will not come back . I already have some problems organising IWC2013 because people wan...

Re: Field of Glory Ancients version 2
Yes but we don't want fragment things further than they are. If we have some people on V2 and others on V1 we don't think it will be good for anyone. We want a universal solution that everyone can move to V2 when they want. YAY! Yes. Much as I like what I have heard of V2 I don't think there is nee...

Re: Field of Glory goes 2.0 !
As soon as we know we'll let you know. Getting a book in to print format takes some planning and we only start to investigate last week and it has to fit around all the other work we were already dealing with. Also bear in mind half the company is away on holiday for the next few weeks so everythin...

Re: Fresh status
These seem like good ideas.
By giving fresh troops a slight edge they'd help to make reserves more useful. This would add to the realism of the game.

Moving from an Overlap on to a Flank
A club member new to Fog asked about moving from an overlap to a flank attack position. Thought I knew the answer, but on reflection am not certain, and wanted to check with the brains here. There are three units of Roman legionaries in a civil war, each of four elements. A and B are in line abreast...

Re: Central London moves venue
Central London Club is at a new venue, and now meets on each and every Monday at "Escape" which is just by Mornington Crescent Tube. The new venue and night starts from 8/11/2010 as after The Perseverance turned into a trendy wine bar and our other venue the Cock also became a bit too unt...

So it would be wrong to go uniformly for smaller tables, but I hope we can break free of 6 x 4 800 pts default May I enquire where the 800pt 6x4 arrangement came from originally? I assume it just wasn't plucked from thin air? 6 x 4 tables worked well under the rule system that was predominant befor...
