Wargames bases

OK, slightly of topic but does anyone know of a manufacturer who makes wargames bases with a moveable number built in for counting casulaties/hits etc.

Some dispute about this, the numbers do not look good at first. .........................Long range....... Close range 4/2 Salvo............... 2 dice.................2 dice 5/1 Impact............ 2 dice................4 dice 5/1 musket............ 2 dice................5 dice 6 musket................

Another question on that, if the FF had been a straight line rather than a U shape could the Artillery then moved 90 degrees and been able to shoot?

and what is the benefit of U shaped FF over straight lines?

Unit upgrades not mentioned in Allies list

I have noticed in some army lists that a unit in the main army list can be upgraded but that upgrade does not appear in the allies section, does this mean the upgrade cannot be made? i.e. Koryo Korean KwangGun cavalry can be upgraded to SingiGun in the main list but it does not show in the allies se...

I played against the army at Britcon last year (George Dick ran it). It's a decent army - lots of bulk, lots of combat. I would imagine it's one to use rarely - can see a lot of the battles being "form line and walk forwards" so it culd get dull in time. The superior guys seemed good valu...

NW Pacific Culture

Having seen MY Miniatures Inuit range I'm tempted to do a fun army to go alongside a competitive one for those not bothered if I win or lose days, have come up with the following 650pt list. 3 TC Skirmishers LF Unprotected Average Undrilled Javelins Light Spear - 6 Skirmishers LF Unprotected Average...

I definitely prefer single casting (even for mounted figures). I find that weapons and shields never stay fixed indefinitely and riders almost always sit awkwardly (slight lean anyone?) when glued to their horses unless the horse and rider are sculpted specifically for each other rather than the co...

Multipart but only because I don't like "regular" or "drilled" troop formations.

You need to look at Edward I - before he became king he went on crusade. Although I suspect you have a bit of a mismatch, truth is, Crossbow is pretty hopeless. Later Crusader is evocative, but it's not very good. Obviously, if it is led by Longshanks as an IC/FC that will help. 1216 is King John -...

Bow* Lancer cavalry

Have been looking at the Jin army list and spotted Bow* Lancer cavalry on it, can somebody explain the benefit of Bow* for Shock Mounted troops who unless I CMT them every turn will charge if they have anybody in bow range.

Depends a lot on the scenario - for instance you might have a small-ish on-table force holding a hill, and having to hold out against a much stronger attacker till a relieving force can fight its way up the table. The on-table force might be outnumbered 3:1 in this sort of scenario. Or you could ha...

that was the idea but without knowing how different manufacters fit with each other you end up using one manufacturer and have little variation.

So we have:

Khurasan's Huns
Legio heroica's mongols
Old glory's mongols
Essex's ilkhanids (and huns for LH)

A nice collection of figures but if you wanted to mix and match amongst suppliers to get more even variety whose figures fit with who?

Have this same question with Koryo Koreans, Drill Sup Cats or Drilled Sup Cv, a mix of each seems the best and try to get the best match ups for both.

Why not just build your village on an old 12" vinyl record actually a very good idea... the grooves will key in anything you care to stick to it. Its plastic so it won't warp... 8) Oh really? Have you ever seen what happens when you leave one on a radiator? or store them standing upright under...

Any piece where the diagonal of the square/rectangle is no more than 12MU.

So for a square it would be 8.48MU x 8.48MU
For Rectangles:
11 x 4.79
10 x 6.6
9 x 7.9
8 x 8.9
7 x 9.7
6 x 10.3
5 x 10.9
