Weekly Spotlight: Brogen Hur
]This week's spotlight is on one of the two dwarven realms, Brogen Hur.
In the early years of human expansion, the dwarves of Brogen Hur fought against the rising tide. And in those wars, the dwarves blunted every Boruvian assault on their citadel. But more humans came, and the dwarves knew that their own numbers dwindled with every battle. They knew it was a matter of time. Thus it came to be that Brogen Hur joined Sonneneve to sign a lasting truce, accepting human expansion as final. And Brogen Hur went one step further. It recognized and adhered to the Code of War, thereby falling under the umbrella of "civilized realms" to conduct open trade, as well as enjoying the mutual security that the Code offers. Today, Brogen Hur is considered by most in the civilized West as a solid trading partner, if a proper relationship can be struck.

Re: Weekly Spotlight: Brogen Hur
Nice. Thank you guys.
As regards the heroes (warlord, merchant prince, battlemage) are these generic cards (they don't look too dwarvish at first sight ) or will they be realm-tailored?

Re: Weekly Spotlight: Brogen Hur
Heroes should be seen more as a "Character Class." There are 15 such Hero classes in Sovereignty. Once in a while, Realms are lucky enough to have a Hero come to court and offer services. Each Realm has 3 possible Hero types who will offer services So a dwarven realm like Brogen Hur, which has opened its doors to treaties and trade with the expansionist human realms, may attract a Warlord, a Merchant Prince or a Battlemage.
The Warlord will also offer services to a number of other realms that suit his style, whether human, dwarven or other.

Re: Weekly Spotlight: Brogen Hur
I thought the same as RedHawl and was going to post his very words.
But you’re saying heroes can come from any “race” and join up with any realm. Do they still have any sort of alliance to the realm or race that they came from? In other words in what you show here, if the Warlord (who looks very human) was with Brogen Hur and Brogen Hur went to war against some human realm – does that cause a conflict for the hero?
Also, if Brogen Hur gets this hero Warlord, are there other Warlords that other realms can still get – or is there only one in the game?

Re: Weekly Spotlight: Brogen Hur
There's really no concept of "race" for Heroes other than a fictional/artistic rendition. Realms slowly attract a subset of hero classes over time. When one appears, it's up to you whether to hire them. You may also decline until the "right one" comes along. Brogen Hur might hire 3 Warlords if that suits the player better than the mix of Heroes that are available. And other realms that can hire Warlords may do so as well. The balance here is that by waiting, the player is giving up the short term advantages of having a hero.

Brogen Hur's Unit spotlight: Dwarven Infantry
Dwarven Infantry are the backbone of Brogen Hur's regular army. They are tough, if somewhat plodding, though they make up for that in familiar terrain, moving easily through Mountain and Hill.
When Dwarven Infantry receive their first combat Medal, they may gain one additional ability of your choice:
Attack +1
Resilient: Unit has a 50% chance to take half damage from any physical attack
When Dwarven Infantry receive their second combat Medal, they may gain a final ability of your choice:
Tower Shield: vs. Ranged attack: +3 Defense
Guardian: Guardians also have a "hard-line" ZOC that negates phased and phantom movement of Reconaissance and Phantoms and Units with Mobility that move adjacent to them. They are also immune to Charge.
