Is it just me who wishes some games were small, fast affairs?
I must be getting old, but I honestly avoid big massive complex games that do my head in.
I remember the glory days of boardgaming when SPI produced a series of 'Folio Games' which comprised a small map with low unit count and could be played in around an hour.
It'd help if Matrix had a 'Small computer games' category where I could make a beeline for, or aren't there any small games around any more?

you could try wargame design studio demoes eg you can play custor and the indians in a demo, they have other small demoes and there free, but the main games are bigger is scope than most

Same with Field of Glory II. If the standard size is too big you can set the force and map sizes smaller.Edmon wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 8:56 amBattlesector matches are pretty quick.PoorOldSpike wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 1:53 am Is it just me who wishes some games were small, fast affairs?

Everyone has a tablet somewhere. Look up Joni Nuutinen on Google. Oodles of great wargames.PoorOldSpike wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 1:53 am Is it just me who wishes some games were small, fast affairs?

Also check out Yobowargames (they make Valor and Victory), they also make some great old school straight forward low complexity titles.

You're not alone! Short, punchy games are definitely making a comeback. Look for "indie games" or "casual games" - many are designed for quick, focused play sessions.
