Re: Sign up for the Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon beta!

I googled my screen name just to see what would come up, found a link to slitherine, and saw this. I'm very excited!

Multiplayer

Just saw this on my newsfeed, and the demo was fun, but what I'd really like these days is a game I can play socially. Is a multiplayer mode likely to be developed?

Trample definitely needs to be revamped, as it stands. It doesn't feel right. Also, charging through units gives better results than charging into them (partially because units stand slightly apart, so the horses can walk right through.)

Hey, I'd be up for a game, but you'd have to wait till I got home from college and reinstalled legion arena on my computer. But I'd be glad to play then.

You guys have GOT to be kidding? 300? What an utter piece of trash. How the **** do you justify the ****ing rhinoceraus? It's comicbook history, for the gods' sake, and utterly ahistorical. I just cannot believe that the type of people who hang out here would actually like such trash. You must not ...

Don't spend any money on pincushions. Ablative shielding isn't meant to survive, just to absorb some flying pointies/slow down some horses.

And I have a number of peasent regiments in most of my armies.

ITs worth mentioning that I really consider skirmishers to be disposable units- their javelins are there to do damage, but that mainly makes them act as better bait- they can waltz up, throw a few, and then run to lure an opponent. They aren't valuable for anything, though, and I wouldn't use them a...

I'm particularly interested in medieval African warfare south of the Sahara. Any chance that these will be included in the army lists? I am willing to help you out if interested. Cheers Richard All I know about that was that there are a number of references to 'iron cavalry' in western africa. I'm ...

Play ironman. In other words, don't be a military nut-expansionist, don't use exploits (huge cheap militias to control cities while your elite armies stomp the enemy). Play it softly. Not ultra-efficent. Role-play. Slitherine's games are incredibly fun for role-play style gaming.

I thought that mtw2:tw was actually pretty good, but of course slitherine games go along with history a lot better than does mtw2. Aye. MTW2 was a gamer's game, not a history gamer's game. It was fun, well made with great graphical effects, and switched some historical/rational aspects to make the ...

I own KOH and I do love playing it. However, I feel the Crusades were poorly modeled (or did they fix that in the last patch?). However, I love everything else about the game. Ditto, except the "tactical" battles, which were a messy Age of empires pastiche with morale thrown in...and the ...

There was a clever line about the sacred band.

Elephants make decent cav killers due to a very high protection against being trampled and not being as heavily outnumbered by cavalry. They can still be trampled though, even by skirmishers in the aggresive formation. Uhh, but WHY? Why use Elephants? Why not just use cavalry for anti-cavalry work....

Och, not enough missles/cav. Archers are really useful for tearing into tougher foes. Cavalry are useful for isolating units.
